The tab for US non-military spying in 2007 is a whopping $43.5 billion, according to figures released today by National Director of Intelligence Mike McConnell.
Disclosure of that amount marks the first time in nine years that funds budgeted for national intelligence activities have been publicly aired, and comes amid mounting pressure from Congress and the Sept. 11 commission to make the practice routine.
A more complete budget figure for US spying is actually even higher, according to sources cited in the Washington Post, who told the paper that if still-classified totals for military-based programs were factored in, that number would reach $50 billion.

“While the budget figure released by McConnell excludes intelligence programs for the separate military services,” reports the Post, “it includes the budgets of the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the FBI's intelligence programs, the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research and the major Defense Department intelligence collection agencies.”
The last time such figures were announced -- the spying budget including military spending was $26.5 billion in 1998 -- it took a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit from the Project of Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists to force their publication.
That organization’s director, Steven Aftergood, told RAW STORY Tuesday that revealing the cost of spying activities could cause a stir within intelligence circles.
“Disclosure of the intelligence budget figure may have significant repercussions for national security classification policy,” he said, “just because it was so strongly opposed by the intelligence community.”
Even after his group’s successful Freedom of Information Act action, Aftergood said “intelligence officials literally swore that any further disclosures would damage national security.”
He points to statements made by former CIA Director George Tenet, who told a federal court in 2003 that the intelligence budget was “of great interest to nations and non-state groups... wishing to calculate the strengths and weaknesses of the United States,” and went on to say that disclosure of a budget total could cause “serious damage” to the United States.
“Even historical budget information from half a century ago” shouldn’t be released, Aftergood said officials maintained, citing a statement to that effect from former US Deputy Director of Central Intelligence John McLaughlin, who in 2004 wrote that such material “must be withheld from public disclosure... because its release would tend to reveal intelligence methods."
“Now it appears that such information may safely be disclosed after all,” Aftergood said. “Because the new disclosure is so sharply at odds with past practice, it may introduce some positive instability into a recalcitrant classification system. The question implicitly arises, if intelligence officials were wrong to classify this information, what other records are they wrongly withholding?”
A news release from Director McConnell's office disclosing the new numbers, obtained by Aftergood, is available here. http://www.fas.org/sgp/news/2007/10/dni103007.pdf

A new bill that recently passed the House and is headed for Senate approval has online activists worried that the vague definitions used for defining the Internet's contribution to radicalization of potential terrorists could lead to a government crackdown on talk radio, free speech and the 9/11 truth movement.
The bill is H.R. 1955 http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h110-1955 : Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 and passed Congress after a bipartisan vote on October 23rd.
Ostensibly, the bill targets United States citizens because of its constant reference to basic Constitutional protections, but this has led some to fear that it is intended to shut down free speech on the Internet and stifle patriot and alternative talk radio networks.

The bill defines "violent radicalization" as "The process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change."
It further defines "homegrown terrorism" as "The use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives."
The term "planned use" has caused concerns that "thinking about violence," ie thought crime, could be considered a terrorist act. But since to plan violence must involve some form of planning, whether that be drawing up bomb diagrams or making violent statements, the real threat seems to have been overlooked.
A disturbing trend in recent months has been the proliferation of violent postings on messageboards of websites affiliated with peaceful 9/11 truth organizations.
These messages are being posted by shameless trolls, COINTELPRO operatives and their stooges in a clear effort to discredit the 9/11 truth movement by making us all appear to be crazy nutcases who plan to commit terrorist acts.
Establishment media hacks like Glenn Beck have then seized upon the idea to spew propaganda about how the next Timothy McVeigh will come from the truth movement, despite the fact that the leadership of the truth movement have practiced what they preach all along, by engaging in completely peaceful protests and other forms of non-violent educational activism.
The bill's reference to how "The Internet has aided in facilitating violent radicalization, ideologically based violence, and the homegrown terrorism process in the United States by providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda to United States citizens," is shocking.
Remember, the bill is not aimed at "Al-Qaeda" websites or arabic forums that post alleged Bin Laden video tapes, it is aimed at American citizens using American based websites, like the very one you're reading now.

The opportunity for the state to seize upon violent posts left by trolls and use them to entrap peaceful 9/11 truthers under the guise that they "promoted violence" should be a major concern for us all.
Our message is simply this - don't even try it.
We have preached a doctrine of absolute non-violence from the very beginning and we will continue to do so. Anyone who calls for violence in a messageboard post is either a Fed, a Mom's basement dwelling troll who spends their entire day attempting to debunk the 9/11 truth movement, or a completely deluded moron who is unrepresentative of the vast majority of the 9/11 truth movement.
Those individuals who advocate violence should be sought out and investigated individually. Any plans to try and entrap prominent 9/11 truth movement figures using guilt by association should be abandoned immediately and we will ceaselessly emphasize this point until this current wave of propaganda subsides.

"Battle For The Republic" Exposes Real Immigration Agenda

Alex Jones' Battle For The Republic exposes how the elite are using illegal immigration and pushing amnesty as a means of pulverizing the American middle class and ensuring that U.S. citizens, black, white and hispanic alike, are forced to sacrifice their freedom and sovereignty as America is sunk into a third world cesspool.
The mini-documentary lifts the lid on how the backlash against rampant illegal immigration in America is a major concern for the Bilderberg Group, posing a threat to their plans to lower the living standards of U.S. citizens of all colors and creeds into second or even third world status.
What is the real agenda behind last year's massive pro-illegal immigration demonstrations and who is really behind them? Battle For the Republic traces the legacy of the movement back to the Plan of San Diego, a shocking blueprint for race-based genocide directed against blacks and whites in America.

The goal is to divide America by bankrolling the Aztlan movement, an extremist separatist plan on behalf of Mexican Ku Klux Klan style groups like Mecha and La Raza to "reclaim" the southern and western U.S. states, in order to eventually merge America, Canada and Mexico into a North American Union.
Battle For The Republic shoots down the myth that Mexico has any rightful claim to the south western states by carefully documenting the history of how the west was won, bringing it up to the modern day and highlighting how the elite are using the enraged Mexican mobs as a weapon of conquest to slit America's throat and sacrifice its sovereignty on the altar of globalism.

Hispanic Radio and TV stations owned by huge corporations based in New York spew hatred and division as Mexicans are radicalized and told that all their problems stem from the racist American middle class while ignoring the fact that the elite are the true cause of their misery, as taxpayers are sucked dry to fund welfare which only subsidizes the corporations that employ the illegals.

Illegal aliens are being granted God-like status by the elite and given rights that super seed those of American citizens. The film highlights the case of a man who was assaulted and arrested by police for expressing his first amendment right to disagree with thousands of illegal aliens marching in downtown Seattle, and how illegals who assaulted him and smashed his car were left completely alone while throngs of Mexicans cheered as an American was taken to jail for exercising his freedom of speech.
"Now you're bleeding, what's it like now, bitch!" yells one illegal as blood drips from the man's face.
Battle For the Republic ends with Alex Jones' infamous protest of Vicente Fox when he came to Austin to give awards to police for breaking federal laws by not arresting illegal aliens.
Fox was forced to cut his speech short after Alex Jones bullhorned the truth about his role in destroying American sovereignty, making headlines across Texas.

Sarkozy Touts 'Mediterranean Union' Plan

Sarkozy Touts 'Mediterranean Union' Plan

French president Nicolas Sarkozy has reiterated his plan to set up a Mediterranean Union, a loose grouping of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, in 2008 -- a move that is likely to raise eyebrows in some parts of Europe.
"I invite all the heads of state and government of countries bordering the Mediterranean to meet in France in June 2008 to lay the foundations of a political, economic and cultural union founded on the principles of strict equality", Mr Sarkozy said during his visit to Morocco on Tuesday (23 October).
He added that "in the Mediterranean will be decided whether or not civilisations and religions will wage the most terrible of wars...whether or not the North and the South will clash".

The idea of a Mediterranean Union is not a completely new one -- it was floated by Mr Sarkozy leader during the French presidential campaign in spring of this year.
Under the plans, the group should tie southern Europe with Northern Africa as well as Israel and its Arab neighbours and tackle topical issues such as counter-terrorism, immigration, energy, trade, water and sustainable development.
However -- after offering Turkey that it could be the backbone of the club -- the project has been widely seen as another attempt to give Ankara an alternative for its bid for full EU membership.
Mixed reactions
According to the European Commission, it is "good" to have initiatives promoting regional cooperation, however, they "should build on existing structures".
There are fears that France's proposal would try to bypass the 12-year-old Barcelona process, designed to foster dialogue between the EU bloc and ten countries on the southern and eastern shores of the Mediterranean -- Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey. Libya has observer status since 1999.
"It is a successful process", the commission spokesperson said on Thursday (25 October), indicating the executive body will want more details on any new union.
According to media reports, some EU capitals are also set to seek clarification of Mr Sarkozy's ideas, with a few even indicating it may be part of his efforts to push his own country's interests in the region.
Only seven EU countries -- Cyprus, Greece, France, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain -- would be part of the new bloc, the rest would have a role of silent observer.
In his speech in Morocco, Mr Sarkozy himself drew a rather blurry picture of the project.
On the one hand, he called on Mediterranean people "to do the same thing, with the same goal and the same method" as the 27-nation EU bloc has done, but at the same time, he said it would not be based on the EU model.

Bexar County Judge Nelson W. Wolff used his State of the County address today to tear into opponents of toll roads in Bexar County, saying they are ‘crazy’ and ‘dangerous’ and suggesting once that if he ‘named the other members of Commissioner’s Court who support toll roads it might endanger their lives.’
Wolff said toll roads are ‘the right way,’ and he urged the Chamber of Commerce audience to cheer Metropolitan Planning Organization Chair Sheila McNeil, who was sued along with the MPO this week by toll road opponents who claim that the organization is illegally pushing for toll roads.
“We have some people who have had to take a lot of heat,” Wolff said. “One of them is Sheila McNeil who is the head of the MPO. Sheila, stand up. We owe you a round of applause for taking the heat from these crazy people who are jamming it down your throat every day!”
Wolff has been a long time supporter of toll roads, and he has mentioned the importance of building toll roads in his previous two State of the County speeches. But the vehemence of his denunciation of toll road opponents surprised some in his generally pro toll audience. Wolff didn’t mention by name which toll road opponents he thinks are ‘crazy’ or ‘dangerous’ but he did cite an incident following a meeting to discuss toll roads.
“We had an incident not too long ago, where the anti toll road people were here and sort of jumped (Regional Mobility Authority Chairman) Bill Thornton and I in the parking lot. I tried to get away from him and he kept following me. I finally turned around and asked him to get away from me, and he said ‘give me your best shot.’ I called the deputy across the street, and he came over and kept him away from me. Let me tell you, they are dangerous people.”
“We’re barely holding on with a three two vote on Commissioners Court supporting this project,” Wolff said. “I won’t tell you who the other two commissioners are, I don’t want to endanger their lives.”
Lyle Larson and Tommy Adkisson are toll road opponents on Bexar County Commissioner’s Court.
Then, Wolff suggested that Bexar County residents should be grateful that toll roads are being built.
“The roads on the side will be free, the toll lanes will be in the middle, you don’t have to get onto the toll lane, you should be happy we’re building it, because there will be less traffic on the free lanes.”
Wolff said he opposes any concessions agreement which would allow “a company from Spain” to build the toll roads, a reference to the Cintra-Zachry partnership which has the contract to build 40 miles of the State Highway 130 toll road.
“TexDOT wants to give it (the US 281 toll lane construction contract) to a company from Spain,” Wolff said. “We prefer that the public be involved. We need to stick with the public sector, we need to keep the tolls as low as possible, and allow that money to stay right here and not go someplace else, whether it be Spain or someplace else in Texas.”
Terri Hall, founder of Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom, the leading anti toll group, agrees there is a lot that is crazy about toll roads, but toll road opponents aren’t among them.
“What’s crazy is charging us over and over again for what’s already paid for,” Hall said. “What’s crazy is claiming that they’re not tolling existing roads, when that’s exactly what they’re doing. And what’s dangerous is TexDOT failing to construct overpasses on 281 where deaths have occurred, so they can build ‘cash cow’ toll roads.”
Hall says she’s ‘amazed’ that a Chamber of Commerce audience cheered Wolff’s pro toll remarks, when toll roads will hurt local businesses and harm the county’s tax base.
“People are not going to go to the store, or buy that pair of shoes, when they have to pay all that money on tolls. That is going to hurt the tax base of Bexar County, and that’s the bottom line.”
Elsewhere in his State of the County speech, Wolff said he anticipates suggestions on an estimated $300 million dollar venue tax renewal proposal to be submitted to Commissioners Court by December, and a vote could be called on the issue next spring. He says officials are considering four potential uses for the venue tax money. Sports complexes, including facilities at UTSA, a Performing Arts Center, which could be built inside the existing Municipal Auditorium, expansion of the Riverwalk south and north, and improvements to the AT&T Center.

$200 Dollar a Barrel Oil Is Part Of Bilderberg Plan To Destroy Middle Class

The global elite are conspiring to send oil prices crashing through the $200 dollar a barrel mark as part of an organized agenda to hike profits, bring about a global economic crash and torpedo the middle class, and they're not afraid to attack Iran as a means of achieving their goal.
Crude oil prices returned to near record high prices today after having surged past the $80 a barrel benchmark on Thursday.
Now there is serious debate about oil crashing not just the $100 dollar, but the $200 dollar a barrel level in the next two years.

The 24/7 Wall Street blog, which is affiliated with both Dow Jones' MarketWatch and The Wall Street Journal, carried an article over the weekend that entertained the possibility of oil tipping the $200 mark, citing experts in the industry who expect the $95 a barrel level to be surpassed by the end of the year if the recent stock market turmoil continues.
The ultra-secretive Bilderberg Group, a consortium of power brokers from banking, business, politics, academia and oil, met in Munich Germany in May 2005 when crude oil prices were around the $40 a barrel mark.
During the conference, Henry Kissinger told his fellow attendees that the elite had resolved to ensure that oil prices would double over the course of the next 12-24 months, which is exactly what has happened.
During their 2006 meeting in Ottawa Canada, Bilderberg agreed to push for $105 a barrel before the end of 2008. This information was gleaned from sources inside Bilderberg who have proven reliable in the past.

Though Bilderberg claim they are merely a talking shop and formulate no policy, they were also responsible for the decision to delay the invasion of Iraq until March 2003 after it was initially intended to take place in late 2002.
Bilderberg have sworn to bring about what Jose Barroso, President of the European Commission and a Bilderberg member, refers to as the "post-industrial revolution," which in layman's terms translates as a global economic crash, another great depression and the total evisceration of the middle class.

This will be accomplished by hyping the doomsday threat of global warming in alliance with the promotion of peak oil.
Peak oil is a scam manufactured by the oil companies to create artificial scarcity and drive up profits for transnational oil cartels. It was first originated in 1956 by Shell Oil's M. King Hubbert, who said that only one and a quarter trillion barrels of crude were left, a figure that was surpassed at the end of 2006. According to Hubbert's original calculations, the planet should already have produced its last drop over nine months ago.
By pushing peak oil theories and tying them in with the man-made global warming fraud, Bilderberg seeks to jack up oil prices to the point where the living standards of the middle class become unsustainable and the west is lowered into second world status while fat cat elitists reap the financial and political bounty.
A military attack on Iran is also essential for the globalists to kick-start an economic collapse coupled with a massive hike in oil prices. French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner told a French TV station yesterday that the world should prepare for war with Iran as rhetoric around the possibility of conflict grows bellicose.
Experts have predicted that should an attack occur, Iran would immediately cease oil exports, pushing the price per barrel well beyond $100 almost immediately, inflating gasoline prices and kicking off a worldwide energy crisis and a recession.

Richard Haass the President of the Council on Foreign Relations and Bilderberg luminary was recently interviewed by Katie Couric on the situation with Iran. During the interview, Haass predicted that the crisis over Iran’s nuclear program could come to a head within the next few months and that war with Iran would result in oil prices rising to $200 a barrel. Haass also made it clear that sanctions would not be effective in changing Iran’s stance on their nuclear program and that there was a real possibility of a U.S. military strike on Iran using aircraft and cruise missiles. When Couric specifically asked Haass if he thought we would see a war with Iran, he responded.
“I don’t think we are talking about invasion, the U.S. doesn’t have ground troops. There could be a military strike using aircraft and cruise missiles, but if you ask me over the next year or two years can I imagine the U.S. and Iran moving to conflict? The short answer is yes. Is it definite? Obviously not, but is it a real possibility; for sure.”
Haass also mentioned in the interview that war with Iran would result in the oil price reaching $200 a barrel. This specific prediction from Haass is interesting considering reports from previous Bilderberg meetings that the global elite have been seeking an increase in oil prices as part of an effort to further squeeze the U.S. middle class.
A $200 oil price is certainly not out of the realm of possibility considering oil recently eclipsed the $90 a barrel mark. The rising oil price has thus far been primarily due to a combination of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East along with the falling value of the U.S. Dollar. In addition, the Federal Reserve is widely expected to cut interest rates again which would send the price of oil even higher and the value of the U.S. Dollar even lower. Any military attack on Iran would certainly send oil prices much higher with the possibility of other countries with close ties to Iran like Venezuela cutting off oil sales in retaliation.
It is clear that the global elite are seriously considering military action against Iran as part of their goal to further their agenda for one world government. The major media networks have been out in full force spreading all sorts of propaganda in an effort to convince the masses that we need an invasion of Iran. The propaganda fails to mention that any invasion of Iran could have a devastating effect on the U.S. economy with the potential of skyrocketing gasoline prices. Hopefully, they’ll come to their senses and put a halt to any plans for a military strike against Iran. With countries like Pakistan and North Korea holding a nuclear arsenal, it doesn’t make any logical sense to go after a country like Iran that doesn’t even have a nuclear weapon. The only rationale for an invasion of Iran is raw imperialism, and unfortunately that’s what we are seeing unfold.

The dollar slid to a record low against a basket of major currencies on Monday, weighed down by expectations of a Federal Reserve interest rate cut this week and perhaps another move by the end of the year.
The dollar's woes helped to drive oil prices to a new record peak above $93 a barrel and sent gold to a 28-year high above $794 an ounce, boosting the Australian dollar to its highest levels in 23 years and the Canadian dollar to a 33-year peak.
The Fed is widely forecast to cut rates by a quarter percentage point to 4.5 percent on Wednesday, while expectations are building for a follow-up cut in December to limit economic damage from the housing market's downturn.

The likelihood of lower U.S. rates sent investors away from U.S. assets and into other currencies, particularly European currencies and those of commodity producers such as the Australian and Canadian dollars.
"It's all about the Fed, of course. We are not surprised that we are trading around these levels," said John Hydeskov, senior analyst at Danske Bank in Copenhagen.
"Our models based on oil, stocks, stock volatility and rates suggest that we could see much higher levels, around $1.47. But to the extent that we've taken a really, really long rally now, we would not be surprised if we see some profit taking around $1.45," he added.

PJB: Conservatism is a Tower of Babel

PJB: Conservatism is a Tower of Babel

October 26, 2007
by Patrick J. Buchanan
http://buchanan.org/blog/?p=876

“I was conservative yesterday, I’m a conservative today, and I will be a conservative tomorrow,” declared Fred Thompson to the Conservative Party of New York, billing himself as the “consistent conservative” in the GOP race – in contrast to ex-mayor Rudy Giuliani.
In his defense, Rudy cites George Will as calling his eight years in office in the Big Apple the most conservative city government in 50 years.
And, truth be told, Thompson was reliably conservative in his Senate years. But so, too, has John McCain been, and Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo. Hunter, however, splits with Thompson and McCain on trade. Paul disagrees with all six of them on the war. And Tancredo assails McCain for backing Bush’s amnesty for 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens.
Will the real conservative please stand up? Or perhaps we should recall John 14:2, “In my father’s house there are many mansions.”
What does it mean to be a conservative – in 2007?
Sixty years ago, Robert A. Taft was the gold standard. Forty years ago, it was Barry Goldwater, who backed Bob Taft against Ike at the 1952 convention. Twenty years ago, it was Ronald Reagan, who backed Barry in 1964. Reagan remains the paragon Рfor the consistency of his convictions, the success of his presidency and the character he exhibited to the end of his life. About Reagan the clich̩ was true: The greatness of the office found out the greatness in the man.
Reagan defined conservatism for his time. And the issues upon which we agreed were anti-communism, a national defense second to none, lower tax rates to unleash the engines of economic progress, fiscal responsibility, a strict-constructionist Supreme Court, law and order, the right-to-life from conception on and a resolute defense of family values under assault from the cultural revolution that hit America with hurricane force in the 1960s.
With the collapse of the Soviet Empire and the breakup of the Soviet Union, anti-communism as the defining and unifying issue of the right was gone. The conservative crack-up commenced.
With George H.W. Bush came the advent of what Fred Barnes of the New Republic hailed as Big Government Conservatism. Some thought the phrase oxymoronic. But when Bush stood at the rostrum of the U.N. General Assembly in October 1991 to declare that America’s cause was the creation of a New World Order, the old right reached reflexively for their revolvers.
In 1992, with foreign policy off the table, the Bush economic record a perceived failure and Ross Perot running on protectionism and populism, Bush refused to play his trump card with the Clintons: the social and moral issues he and Lee Atwater had use to beat Michael Dukakis senseless in 1988. And so, George H.W. Bush lost the presidency.
Now, 15 years later, what does it mean to be a conservative?
There is no pope who speaks ex cathedra. There is no bible to consult, like Goldwater’s “The Conscience of a Conservative” or Reagan’s “no-pale-pastels” platform of 1980. At San Diego in 1996, Bob Dole told his convention he had not bothered to read the platform. Many who heard him did not bother to vote for Bob Dole.
And so, today, the once-great house of conservatism is a Tower of Babel. We are big government and small government, traditionalist and libertarian, tax-cutter and budget hawk, free trader and economic nationalist. Bush and McCain support amnesty and a “path to citizenship” for illegals. The country wants the laws enforced and a fence on the border.
And Rudy? A McGovernite in 1972, he boasted in the campaign of 1993 that he would “rekindle the Rockefeller, Javits, Lefkowitz tradition” of New York’s GOP and “produce the kind of change New York City saw with … John Lindsay.” He ran on the Liberal Party line and supported Mario Cuomo in 1994.
Pro-abortion, anti-gun, again and again he strutted up Fifth Avenue in the June Gay Pride parade and turned the Big Apple into a sanctuary city for illegal aliens. While Ward Connerly goes state to state to end reverse discrimination, Rudy is an affirmative-action man.
Gravitating now to Rudy’s camp are those inveterate opportunists, the neocons, who see in Giuliani their last hope of redemption for their cakewalk war and their best hope for a “Long War” against “Islamo-fascism.”
I will, Rudy promises, nominate Scalias. Only one more may be needed to overturn Roe. And I will keep Hillary out of the White House.
A Giuliani presidency would represent the return and final triumph of the Republicanism that conservatives went into politics to purge from power. A Giuliani presidency would represent repudiation by the party of the moral, social and cultural content that, with anti-communism, once separated it from liberal Democrats and defined it as an institution.
Rudy offers the right the ultimate Faustian bargain: retention of power at the price of one’s soul.

On Track for U.S. Collapse

On Track for U.S. Collapse

Michael S. Rozeff
Lew Rockwell.com
http://www.lewrockwell.com/rozeff/rozeff183.html
Sunday October 28, 2007

Bush and Cheney are steering the U.S. into a collapse. Only strong public voices by influential people can prevent the coming disaster. We desperately need for men and women who are known to the public and have credibility to speak up in the critical period ahead to avoid catastrophe.
A few weeks ago, Israel bombed a alleged nuclear facility in Syria. This is a warm-up for an attack on Iran.
In the last few days, the U.S. unilaterally tightened sanctions on Iran. Russia and China do not support this move.
A week ago Bush warned Iran that its attainment of nuclear arms would lead to World War III.
Russia, which has been assisting Iran in its nuclear construction program for decades, regards Western military action against Iran as unacceptable.
China has been arming Iran with missiles. Its relations with Iran have been improving for years.
We know that Bush and Cheney are capable of pre-emptive attack. We know that Bush will act if he believes he is right no matter what the costs are. In his distorted worldview, Iran with nuclear weapons is a scenario worth any cost to avoid.
(Article continues below)

We know that Bush, Cheney, and Rice have repeatedly warned Iran of meaningful consequences if Iran arms itself with nuclear weapons. We know that their terms in office end in 15 months. These are the critical months.
But it is by no means clear that the front-running candidates for office who may replace them hold substantially different views. Hillary Clinton has publicly called for sanctions against Iran and has called Iran a threat to Israel.
Why may an unprovoked attack on Iran lead to WWIII and why may it lead to the collapse of the U.S.?
Imagine this scenario. The U.S. encourages Israel to bomb the Natanz nuclear facility in Iran. Russia attempts to restrain an Iranian response but fails. Iran responds in any of many ways, such as launching missiles on Israel, firing on shipping in the Straits of Hormuz, mining the Straits of Hormuz, sending troops into Iraq, or allying its military with Hezbollah and attacking Israel from Lebanon.
The U.S., citing Iran’s aggressions (that will be the story), launches a full-scale attack on Iran designed to devastate the country. This attack has actually been planned by the U.S. for years. Syria is unable to maintain neutrality and quickly becomes a battleground between Iran and Israel.
The price of oil by this point has already soared to $200 a barrel. The U.S. begins to use its strategic reserve and to divert Iraqi production. Russia responds by taking steps to prevent its oil production from reaching the U.S. China responds by cutting off its support of the U.S. Treasury market. Venezuela halts oil shipments to the U.S. The first stages of WWIII are economic warfare designed to cripple the U.S. and halt its war-making capacity.
The U.S., unable to finance its deficits and fund its sovereign debt, is forced into raising interest rates drastically in order to borrow. The Fed is forced to print money. An inflationary spiral occurs. Meanwhile the high interest rates and high oil prices, not to mention the shock of a spreading conflict, drive the U.S. economy into severe decline. The U.S. attempts to raise taxes in order to fund itself, further crippling the economy. Gold soars to $1,500–$2,000 an ounce.
The U.S. attempts to bolster its military forces. The draft is reinstated. The severity of the emergency allows Bush and Cheney to assume emergency powers and begin a dictatorship. Elections are postponed.
The U.S. collapses.
Unfortunately, even if this scenario does not occur, the position of the U.S. is so precarious that any number of other scenarios equally disastrous lie in wait. This house needs urgently to be put in order or it will fall, and especially if it does not terminate its imperial adventures. The very fact that Bush and Cheney (or any major U.S. political officials) gain by starting WWIII is a terrible indictment of our entire political system.
Who can stop this? Who can prevent this? It will only take a few well-placed people to prevent this catastrophe. My guess is 5–20 people could sway public opinion against war or provide enough cover for Congressional dissenters to screw up their courage. Maybe even as few as 3 or 4 influential people could derail the Bush-Cheney train to disaster. They need to speak out at the right times and they must be heard. Previously mute or muted voices simply must speak out. They know who they are. They know that their silence will mean silent approval of a U.S. collapse.

Fixing Illegal Immigration by Nixing NAFTA & the North American Union Vision Behind It

Fixing Illegal Immigration by Nixing NAFTA & the North American Union Vision Behind It

Although American public opinion is rapidly coalescing around the idea that the government can and must solve the illegal immigration problem, a lasting solution must include rooting out the open borders/North American Union vision behind it by dismantling the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) and repealing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Follow this link to the original source: "Confidence in U.S. Foreign Policy Index -- Loss of Faith: Public’s Belief in Effective Solutions Eroding"
According to the "Confidence in U.S. Foreign Policy Index" for the fall of 2007, published by Public Agenda in cooperation with Foreign Affairs (released October 24):
Illegal immigration already has the elements that might constitute a "tipping point" in public attitudes -- a substantial majority are strongly concerned about a problem and believe the government has the power to address it. Continuing public frustration implies continuing pressure on the political system to deal with this problem as the public demands that its concerns be met.
(Article continues below)

Or translated: A growing majority of Americans is fed up with the government?s refusal to stop illegal immigration. Politicians ignore the growing pressure for a solution at their own electoral peril.
In this environment of super-sensitivity to voter attitudes on immigration by both political parties, we can be sure that immigration legislation will continue to occupy center-stage in 2008 and beyond. However, the more the pressure grows for a legislative solution to the problem of illegal immigration, the more likely that deceptively-named and ?described legislation will be introduced and passed.
In the meantime, many of our government, business, and academic elites are busily working to establish the North American Union (NAU), an open borders arrangement for North America that would make the present turmoil over immigration moot. In fact, unless the NAU merger process is stopped, legislative gridlock over illegal immigration would provide the same end-state as the widely-reviled Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill of June 2007, i.e., open borders throughout North America.
If you doubt a North American Union merger of the United States, Mexico, and Canada, a la the European Union, is well underway, you need to read ?Merger in the Making http://www.thenewamerican.com/files/documents/MergerInTheMaking.pdf ? (4 MB PDF), the North American Union Edition of The New American magazine for October 15, 2007.
The bottom line for anti-illegal immigration activists: Although American public opinion is rapidly coalescing around the idea that the government can and must solve the illegal immigration problem, a lasting solution must include rooting out the open borders/North American Union vision behind the government's refusal to stop illegal immigration by blocking the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) and repealing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Globalization and Migrant Workers Driving U.K. Wages Down-Down-Down

Globalization and Migrant Workers Driving U.K. Wages Down-Down-Down

The arrival of immigrants from Eastern Europe has forced down the wages of British workers, a Bank of England expert says.
Professor David Blanchflower said the average pay rise given to a UK worker had reduced significantly as a direct result of EU expansion.
Workers have an increased 'fear' of unemployment - which allows bosses to drive a harder bargain.
Professor Blanchflower is a member of the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee.
His findings provide the first proof that the arrival of 700,000 Eastern Europeans has left the average worker worse-off.
(Article continues below)

In 2004, prior to the influx of workers from Poland and other countries, an employee earning £30,000 would have received a pay rise of £1,260.
But a rise given to a worker on the same salary in the middle of this year, would be only £1,050 - a reduction of £210.
The more you earn, the more you would lose out.
Professor Blanchflower said the arrival of Eastern Europeans had 'increased the fear of unemployment'.
This, he said, 'tends to have a downward impact on pay, especially in the non-union sector'.
Fear of unemployment is measured by asking the public how they expect the number of unemployed to change over the next 12 months.
A balance is worked out between those giving positive and negative replies.
Across the EU, the 'fear' of unemployment has fallen since 2003/4.
This is consistent with most of the other EU countries putting restrictions on the right of Eastern Europeans to work, the professor said.
But, in Britain, which allowed free access to the jobs market, it has increased.
Workers fear they could be replaced by a migrant. As a result wage growth, excluding bonuses, has fallen from 4.2 per cent in 2004 to 3.9 per cent in 2005, 3.8 per cent in 2006 and 3.5 per cent in the second quarter of 2007.
In June, the Retail Price Index inflation measure, which includes mortgage payments and is used in pay bargaining, was 4.3 per cent.
Workers receiving a pay-rise below this rate, as the average employee did, can claim to have suffered a real-terms pay cut.
The same has happened in Ireland, which also opted against restrictions on Eastern Europeans.
There, average weekly earnings growth has fallen from 5 per cent in 2004 to 3.1 per cent in 2006.
Professor Blanchflower said: 'Given the strong growth rates of both economies, many economists have struggled to find an explanation for this apparent weakness.
'I believe a rise in the fear of unemployment is the only realistic candidate explanation.'
However, there are benefits, he added, such as helping to keep inflation low.
Earlier this week, it emerged that one in every eight workers is born outside this country.
The Office for National Statistics produced the breakdown from the Government's Labour Force Survey which questions about 20,000 a month.
It showed that in 1997 there were 1,904,000 employees born abroad, fewer than one in 13 of the country's workforce.
By 2007 the number born abroad had risen by more than 70 per cent, to 3,269,000.
The number in work has risen since 1997 from 25.5 million to 27.2 million.
But only 310,000 new jobs have gone to workers born in Britain - fewer than one in five of the jobs created by a continuously expanding economy.
The number of British-born workers has actually fallen over the past four years, from a peak of 24.5million in 2003 to 23.9million, the figures showed.
Professor Blanchflower is a professor of economics at Dartmouth College in the U.S. and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

No Mystery As To Why Young Americans Love Ron Paul

No Mystery As To Why Young Americans Love Ron Paul

Huntington News

Sunday October 28, 2007

Mock right-wing TV talk show host Stephen Colbert described GOP Presidential candidate this way in a visit Congressman Paul (R-Texas) made to his show last June:

"You are an enigma wrapped in a riddle nestled in a sesame seed bun of mystery."

Certainly, at first glance, Congressman Paul does seem a bit different than most Presidential candidates running for the Republican Party's nomination. First, he's opposed to the Iraq War, while the others defend it. Next, he minces no words when it comes to the Constitution guiding his views, whether on touchy subjects like illegal immigration, government programs, or trade agreements.
(Article continues below)

Yet, of all the GOP candidates, it could be argued that Paul is the strongest when it comes to his pro-life position. A former Air Force doctor, he says he's rarely seen any need to terminate a pregnancy for the life of the mother. And on the gun issue, he is predictable, which is refreshing with tortured logic reining among other candidates like Rudy Giuiliani: if the Constitution allows for the right to bear arms, that's all the Congressman from southeast Texas needs to know.

So what is this connection Paul has with the young people who flock to hear him talk? It's becoming a phenomenon, reminding some of the love affair Ronald Reagan had with young voters who could have been his grandchildren.

Gary Jones, a supporter of Paul's in Tennessee, has observed that the younger generation may simply be looking ahead--and see Paul doing the same thing. And both Paul and the young people don't like all that they see resulting from the war:

"The current, administration has placed the U.S. in a war that appears to have no end," writes Jones. "And as bad and as irresponsible as that is, it gets compounded in another way. If you listen to the Republican candidates, you hear the same status quo: half-heartedly talking about how we need to stay and we will get our troops out SOMEDAY. Or you hear the Democrats speaking against the war and realizing a possible withdrawal no sooner than 2013--which would make this war twice as long as World War II.

"What most people don't hear that the younger people hear and see very clearly is their forced participation. The current troop deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan have been there far beyond the prescribed tours of duty, and our military has been spread so thin that we are virtually guarding Iraq while America goes unprotected. This cannot continue on a volunteer basis. The young of our country see a mandatory draft in their future to fight in a war they don't even want. These young people are supporting Ron Paul in droves. They do not want a new Vietnam or continued Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran for their generation."

Now, if this were simply the voice of the far left, who have never seen a war they wanted to fight, that would be one thing. But these are at the very least centrist, sometime conservative young members of the Republican Party. If they saw a war that was absolutely needed to defend America, a war argument well-articulated well by an intelligent Commander-In-Chief, one gets the impression that they would be willing to do their part.

But to just throw themselves and their friends and relatives into a meaningless meatgrinder? That may be where today's young people differ from those who dutifully went whenever and wherever their country sent them. Watergate, Clinton, and now Bush have given America cause for skepticism from our national leaders.

At the very least, Ron Paul embodies this skepticism, and his supporters mostly want better justifications and smarter plans before giving open-ended support to any President's war.

That's not so much to ask.

Clinton Exposed as New World Order Front

Clinton Exposed as New World Order Front

JonesReport.com | October 27, 2007
http://www.jonesreport.com/articles/271007_clinton911.html

Bill Clinton has had to answer to more than just hounding questions about 9/11 recently, as he did when members of Minnesota Change interrupted his Hillary campaign stump just days ago.
Unsolicited questions from the activist group also forced him to acknowledge the Bohemian Club, calling it 'that place where rich Republicans go and stand naked next to Redwood trees,' but claimed he hadn't been there, suavely brushing off scandalous elite secret societies with his indifferent and casual demeanor.

Clinton scolded claims that '9/11 was an inside job,' catching mainstream coverage just after the massive media clamor over the 9/11 truth interruptions on Bill Maher's live HBO show. He cleverly misdirected the now well-known objections to the official story with appeals to the emotional tragedy of a family friend he says was burned beyond recognition on 9/11 and lashed out "An inside job...how dare you."
While that sound bite made news, both Clinton and news cameras ignored equally vocal outcry about his involvement in the Bilderberg group. He attended the group-- which has a reputation as kingmaker-- just before becoming president in 1992. Wife Hillary attended in 1997 and again in 2006 before her 2007-2008 campaign to continue the Bush-Clinton syndicate/dynasty.

Minnesota Change mentioned Bilderberg over and over throughout the night, but Clinton passed up opportunity to 'put them in their place' as he had throughout the rest of the speech. He turned, however, to give a knowing grin when activists told Bill they knew "they aren't going to get away with their New World Order."
Not only is the deeply-connected globalist well aware of the New World Order, he has mentioned it in speeches, and clarifying that he, like George H. W. Bush, was pursuing it. Bill Clinton is a Rhodes Scholar (connecting him to the agenda of the Milner Group and Cecil Rhodes' secret society) and is involved with the Bilderberg group, the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations, amongst other globalist ties.
These confrontations enlarge the 9/11 truth coverage in the public mind and is the second major confrontation of Clinton by We Are Change members across the country.

Eugenics And Population Control Is The Endgame

Eugenics And Population Control Is The Endgame

October 26, 2007

Upon hearing the announcement from Alex Jones that he was embarking on a new filmmaking adventure - and later finding out what the film would cover - I decided to conduct my own research into the various subjects that Endgame would discuss. Rather than get the information for the first time from the film, I wanted to see what I could dig up on my own prior to viewing it. The information I found - which is openly available to anyone willing to look - is incredibly sobering, but not all hope is lost. If we live our lives in fear of what the future may bring, we allow ourselves to be defeated. We still have the power to raise awareness among our fellow man, and despite what the elite may believe, they do not have a monopoly on the future.
You may have heard Alex say that Endgame only covers a small percentage of the information out there. After watching his excellent film, I can tell you from my own investigation that this is absolutely true. I point this out not because I am criticizing the film, but to drive home the true gravity of our situation.
The subject of Eugenics and population control was the main focus of my research. In August I wrote an article on eugenics covering a short history of the pseudo science, and detailed possible future applications of it. The following is a sampling of some of the other information that I’ve been able to find detailing a small part of the elite agenda and possible future scenarios.
China as the world model
“Whatever the price of the Chinese Revolution, it has obviously succeeded not only in producing more efficient and dedicated administration, but also in fostering high morale and community of purpose. The social experiment in China under Chairman Mao’s leadership is one of the most important and successful in human history.” — David Rockefeller, The New York Times, August 10, 1973
China, as noted in Endgame, has long been supported by the global elite in its population control policies and tyrannical measures of control.
In 2000, the Rockefeller foundation gave $2 million to upgrade a drug factory in China which produces the abortion drug RU-486. As the Washington Post reports, the drug has been widely used in China’s population control efforts,
“RU-486 has been a key ingredient in China’s population control strategy for years. Of the estimated 10 million abortions performed annually in China, about half are carried out with RU-486, said Gao Ersheng, director of the Shanghai Institute of Planned Parenthood Research.”
In 1995 China adopted the law on Maternal and Infant Health Care. The law, shaped around Francis Galton’s model of eugenics, is dedicated to “improving the quality of the newborn population.” The law details methods of “educating” the public on the importance of genetics and good marriage. If a couple is deemed unworthy of childbearing they are either not allowed to marry or are sterilized. Using modern genetic screening, fetuses deemed to be “medically considered inappropriate for reproduction” are terminated.
Population control via one child policies are also enforced in China. The Chinese government has heralded the one child policy as contributing to the reduction of their “carbon footprint”.

Eric G. Swedin, assistant professor at Weber State University, speculates in the May-June 2006 edition of The Futurist that China is likely to be the first to develop “designer babies”, triggering a “eugenics race” between the United States and China. Swedin says,

“Around the world, parents seeking the best opportunities for their children may want to buy biotechnology that gives their children an edge, and we will see the birth of specialized human beings. Moral qualms will be brushed aside, and keeping up with the Chinese will be seen as a patriotic duty.”
Swedin goes on to speculate, like many others in the field of genetics and biotechnology, that a new elite upper class that is able to afford the new technology could arise.
“Before the Enlightenment of the eighteenth century, which promoted the essential equality of every human, people believed that noble blood entitled the aristocracy to rule over the peasants… Genetic enhancement could lead to a new feudal order. If a new aristocracy arises, those people whose parents can afford to provide genetic enhancements will not just be stronger, brighter, and less prone to disease, but will actually have “noble” blood in the form of their new and improved genes.”
A technocratic, genetically enhanced elite
The idea of a new class of elite ruling over a lesser, genetically inferior class is not new. H.G. Wells wrote about it in his book The Time Machine, while thousands of years before him Plato’s Republic promoted the idea of elite “Guardians” specifically bred for ruling over the masses. Some warn of its grave dangers, while others promote it as an inevitable, positive development.
Rather than rely on non-technological means of enhancement, advanced technology will be used by the new aristocracy. John Campbell of the University of California writes in his paper The Moral Imperative of Our Future Evolution,
“The costs [of genetic enhancement] will be enormous, far beyond what most people could afford. This has kept our democratic society from appreciating that these possibilities will be used and will be important. However, their feasibility cannot be judged from what the average person will be willing to pay to procreate. What matters are the resources that the most successful generative lines will be able to apply to their goals. A million dollars per conception seems a great underestimate to me for the beings who hold evolution’s frontier.”
“We should not imagine that people will just dabble in their evolution. Another generation will fan autoevolution into the all-consuming endeavor of the intellectuals, scientists and economists. The resources of the world probably will suddenly be shifted to this enterprise. Remaining “humans” will realize that they have been displaced from their former privileged status as the masters of destiny.”
John Glad, former Professor of Russian studies, comments on Campbell in his book Future Human Evolution: Eugenics in the Twenty-First Century,
“Campbell’s projection of rapid, small-group-directed evolution is at once heartening and depressing. Greater, even openended,
intelligence is awesome to contemplate. On the other hand, how sad it is for those “living fossils” who constitute the mass of humanity – humanity, at least, as we know it today.”
“The two societies projected by H.G. Wells in The Time Machine, one producing material goods and the other, childlike, consuming them, is probably going to arrive sooner than we think, and the childlike creatures will be us.”
Lee Silver, Professor at Princeton University and former senior investigator for Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, writing in Remaking Eden: Cloning and Beyond in a Brave New World, sees a future in which,
“The GenRich–who account for 10 percent of the American population–all carry synthetic genes. Genes that were created in the laboratory….The GenRich are a modern-day hereditary class of genetic aristocrats….All aspects of the economy, the media, the entertainment industry, and the knowledge industry are controlled by members of the GenRich class.”
Another angle on advanced technology taken by the elite is the deliberate dumbing down and domestication of the majority of humanity. A picture emerges of a technologically advanced elite sitting atop an oppressed mass of humanity that fails to benefit from advanced technological and genetic developments.
William Sims Bainbridge, a top figurehead in the Transhumanist movement writes,
“Techniques such as genetic engineering, psychoactive drugs and electronic control of the brain make possible a transformation of the species into docile, fully-obedient, “safe” organisms.”
The future as seen by the CIA and the U.K. Ministry of Defense
Like the new genetic upper class, the CIA and U.K. Ministry of Defense envision a future in which global integration brings inter-communal conflict as borders are erased, and a large percentage of the population lives in poverty while only a tiny elite benefits from globalization. At the moment, the European Union exists and is expanding, the African Union is nearing completion, and the North American Union project is currently underway. Ultimately, as Zbigniew Brzezinski has stated, these “post-national” forms of organization will be foundations for a world governmental structure. The future scenarios identified by Global Trends 2015 and other similar reports can undoubtedly be identified as possible responses to these developments.
The CIA’s 2001 report called Global Trends 2015 outlines trends in technology, globalization, and governance to name a few. The report, as noted by the May-June 2001 edition of The Futurist, includes contributions from the RAND corporation and the Carnegie Endowment (who’s leaders attend the secretive Bilderberg conferences regularly). Global Trends 2015 states,
“The continuing spread of information technology and biotechnology will stimulate more innovation in advanced countries. New medical breakthroughs will improve the health and longevity of the wealthy.”
“Established governments are likely to lose some control over their borders… Corporations and nonprofit organizations will exert more influence on state affairs. Winners and losers in globalization will emerge…”
An alternative to positive globalization is given,
“Pernicious Globalization: Global elites thrive, but the majority of the world’s population fails to benefit from globalization. Internal conflicts increase, fueled by frustrated expectations, inequities, and communal tensions.”
The scenario presented by the U.K Ministry of Defense mirrors Global Trends 2015, with a few twists. The London Guardian reported on the MoD report in April of this year. “The development of neutron weapons which destroy living organs but not buildings ‘might make a weapon of choice for extreme ethnic cleansing in an increasingly populated world‘”, the report says.
“‘The middle classes could become a revolutionary class, taking the role envisaged for the proletariat by Marx,’ says the report. The thesis is based on a growing gap between the middle classes and the super-rich on one hand and an urban under-class threatening social order”
“By 2010 more than 50% of the world’s population will be living in urban rather than rural environments, leading to social deprivation and “new instability risks”, and the growth of shanty towns. By 2035, that figure will rise to 60%. Migration will increase. Globalisation may lead to levels of international integration that effectively bring inter-state warfare to an end. But it may lead to “inter-communal conflict” - communities with shared interests transcending national boundaries and resorting to the use of violence.”
Education is the key. Awareness of the global elite is spreading like wildfire. Take an active role in history and do your part in educating others. You don’t have to have the biggest website, be well spoken, or be the best leader. No matter how insignificant your contribution may seem, it makes all the difference in the world.

U.K.‘s Anti-EU Protests Foreshadow Coming Loss Of U.S. Sovereignty

U.K.‘s Anti-EU Protests Foreshadow Coming Loss Of U.S. Sovereignty

Gordon Brown and the Labour Party promised the British people at the last election that a referendum would be held before the introduction of the European Union Constitution. Everyone agrees the EU "Reform Treaty" now being proposed is simply the EU Constitution under a different name. So where's the referendum?

Our British friends across the big pond, who have been promised a vote regarding a new constitution leading to further merger with the European Union, are once again asking, "Where’s the referendum?" The Campaign for an Independent Britain is leading the demand for a referendum on the EU Reform Treaty. The group will be holding a Pro Referendum Rally on Saturday, October 27.

A number of speakers will be there from different sides of the political aisle, including Dr. Bob Spink, Conservative MP for Castle Point; Nigel Farage, Leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party; Roger Helmer MEP, Chairman of the Freedom Association; Neil Herron of the Metric Martyr Defence Fund; and Councilor Steve Radford of the Liberal Party.
Viewing their web sites and literature certainly makes you aware of the battle that is being waged for a country that has been duped into relinquishing its sovereignty. Funny how we haven’t heard much about this struggle in our own media! But of course, this is the same media that either refuses to report on the prospect of the North American Union or downplays anyone who questions them on it.
Perhaps because of the lack of reporting on the subject, frequently you’ll hear other folks claim: "Well, it can’t happen here," or: "There’s no way Congress would support it."
I realize how hard it is for busy Americans to take such worries seriously. After all, we live in America, the Land of the Free! But it is worth the effort to look across the ocean and see the attack on national sovereignty that has been unfolding there for decades. As the Campaign for an Independent Britain has shown in its literature and on its Websites, a nation’s sovereignty can be taken away with or without voters support. The British experience fighting the EU should at the very least teach us to be vigilant about defending our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, and our way of life, no matter what side of the political spectrum you are on.
It’s amazing that we as Americans would vow to literally fight to the death to defend a frontal assault on our country or its principles, but when the assault is done on the sly and our rights are slowly being eroded away (even by our own government), we either don’t recognize it or we turn a blind eye, and anyone who would even suggest such a thing is considered hysterical or worse.
We have to get over such knee jerk reactions and start evaluating issues and events in a more clear-eyed manner. Only by doing that can we take the first step toward identifying threats to our sovereignty in order to save and protect our free and independent nation. It is crucial that we begin to do so soon, because it’s easier to defend something already established than it is to bring something back after it was surrendered.
The efforts of the Campaign for an Independent Britain should remind us of the importance of our vital, but fragile sovereignty.

Whisperings of a gold conspiracy

Whisperings of a gold conspiracy

John Rapley
Jamaica Gleaner
http://www.jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20071025/cleisure/cleisure3.html
Friday, October 26, 2007

Last week, the Freemarket Gold and Money Report broke the news that the United Sates (U.S.) Treasury had been removing gold from its vaults and moving it to banks throughout the country. From there, these supplies presumably made their way on to the world market.
Nuggets of minutiae like this are just what make the gold bugs yell, "I told you so!", and indeed, such a chorus erupted on the Internet last week. 'Gold bug' is, among other things, the name given to students of gold who allege that its price has been driven down by an international bankers' conspiracy.
Unlike other loopy conspiracy theories said to involve Jews, Freemasons or the Vatican, this one actually has a ring of plausibility to it. The basic thesis is that some of the world's central banks, working with some of the planet's largest financial institutions, have together depressed the value of gold and, thereby, maintained the U.S. dollar as the world's principal reserve currency. They have done this by selling their gold reserves whenever gold prices rallied.
What John Maynard Keynes once called a "barbarous relic" long served as the reserve currency for the world economy - the medium used by central banks to stash their savings, which they could later use to fund international trade. In the post-World War II period, the dollar largely replaced gold as the world's reserve currency.
Gold became useless
By the 1990s, many economists were alleging that the U.S. dollar was here to stay, and that gold had, therefore, become useless for anything other than jewellery. Billionaire investor Warren Buffett put it best when he said that gold was something people dug out of the ground, then buried back in the ground, paying guards to stand over it.
However, the gold bugs allege that the switch from gold was engineered by central banks. The advantage to these banks of the dollar, they suggested, was that its supply could be boosted by printing money. In contrast, nature had fixed the supply of gold. This meant that central banks could augment the world's money supply, driving the global boom of the last two decades. Hence, the interest of the private banks in this arrangement: The surge in money supply led to massive financial speculation, driving the bubbles that made them rich these last two decades.
Some see even more sinister forces at work. They point out that no less a mainstream figure than Nobel-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz has argued that Wall Street controls Washington. Close personal links between the U.S. Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board, on one hand, and major banks, on the other, stand as evidence to conspiracy theorists that a cabal of bankers really do control the world economy.
Economic rationale
Still, there appeared to be an economic rationale to switching the world economy to the dollar. But in the repeated bursting of financial bubbles these last few years - the subprime mess in the U.S. being the latest of them - the gold bugs detect the end of the line for this era of speculation. They see central bank manoeuvres to now sell gold as desperate last efforts to turn the tide of a war that is going against them.
In recent years, gold has risen as the dollar has fallen. And in recent months, global investors appear to be losing confidence in the U.S. Federal Reserve's willingness to defend the dollar. Some economists even believe the Americans are deliberately weakening their currency to regain the competitive edge U.S. firms have lost to Asian rivals.
But whatever the motives of central bankers, it does seem that until all these bubbles stop exploding, it will remain a good time to own gold.

Recap of Past Events
The recent temporary rally of the Dow (as forecasted by me – continued ups and downs, but overall trend down as stated in previous Red Alerts) to an all time high (exceeding July 14,000 points) last week, had many people confused, especially the greedy ones and those in state of denial.
Some people went plunging into the stock market, to catch the rally and got burnt again. These people never learn and they deserve the trashing and I have no, absolutely no pity for such fools. It is like playing a poker game with the cards stacked against the stooge. The game at the global casinos was rigged from the word go.
If these people had examined critically, even for five minutes, the current state of affairs, it would have been apparent to them, that Bernanke’s sell out to Wall Street was a stop gap measure to calm the markets and create a state of illusion. But it did not work for the simple reason that one cannot simply revive, on a permanent basis, a hopelessly terminally ill patient, when all its organs are failing rapidly, save the ventilator maintaining the last few breaths.
The final clue that the global banking collapse is speeding down the one way street without any driver in control was the announcement by Paulson, the Treasury Secretary and the three big banks, JP Morgan Chase, CITI Group and Bank of America to set up a US$100 billion fund to mop up the toilet paper commercial paper market (i.e. to buy the structured vehicles’ toilet paper assets).
The global security fraud is now beyond redemption – what this means is that “investors” are not buying these commercial papers supposedly backed by securities, as their values are dubious. To avoid pubic auction of these toilet paper assets and then finding no buyers (i.e. finally being exposed that they are totally worthless), Paulson and these big banks are trying to buy these papers to avoid such a public exposure and in the hope that when things have “settled and there is no more panic” to unload them again to some other idiots. After all a fool is born every other day!
But their very act of setting the fund, have shown their scheme for what it is. The whole world is shouting. “The Emperor has no clothes!” I was shouting and shouting. Few heard my screams and saved their life savings.
This is the critical implication. Hence, the dramatic collapse of the Dow.
The End is Near
The rate cut of a hefty 50 basis points on 18th September 2007 by the Fed was a diversionary tactic and to buy time for the Banks to come up with another fraudulent scheme to hoodwink the self deluding public that all was well. It worked for barely three weeks and then lost all steam!
The dollar has plunged again – a massive 300 points. Gold has soared. Crude is heading for the US100 target by year end. Foreign funds (especially Sovereign Funds) are ditching US dollar assets. Long term bond yields are rising in tandem.
Literally, blood will flow in the streets in major cities of USA and UK in the not too distant future, when the full impact of the collapse hits every aspect of the economy and Joe six packs finally realises that Bush, Cheney, the neo-cons and the bastards controlling the City of London have taken them for a ride and robbed them of their pensions and future.
The policy of control chaos will be implemented and we will witness in major cities of the USA, UK and Europe of street battles, orchestrated by the Intelligence Services, between the white folks and the immigrant population. In the USA, it will be against the Latinos and then the blacks (after they realised that the Jewish community has abandoned them). In the UK and in Europe, it will be against mainly immigrants from Turkey, the Northern Mediterranean states and Pakistan and they are essentially Muslims. There is therefore, the added fuel of Islamic radicalism, which in the first place, was the creation of the Western intelligence services.
These immigrants (cannon folders for the continuing war on terrorism) will be blamed for the woes that afflict the white population. The big banks and the 1% rich have all disappeared with their mistresses and bunnies in some island resort and have engaged mercenaries like Blackwater to guard whatever real estate that need to be protected from the marauding crowds. The Katrina rehearsals have prepared such private armies to do their dirty work. They have their work cut out for them.
It will be ugly.
In the Middle East, the Western intelligence Services will ensure Muslims will slaughter fellow Muslims, as otherwise, only the West will be suffering from the consequences of the financial tsunami.
The Inevitable War
The G7 countries will give their consent and support Cheney’s mad adventure in the Middle East as their only solution to the mess which they have created.
I see no other scenario. How I wish I am wrong. But I doubt it. Events following every previous Red ALERTS have come to pass.
I am no soothsayer. But applying common sense, we must be realists and prepare our people and our family for the coming wars and prepare to take part in the Global Resistance, in whatever way and means at our disposal.
Take care and God bless you all.

A New Era of Unrestrained Mercantilism

A New Era of Unrestrained Mercantilism

The International Forecaster

October 15 2007

If there are no borders or tariffs, transnational conglomerates, banks and central banks, etc. would be able to operate at will and impoverish just about everyone. It is the old British mercantilism on the loose again. The major banks of the world think they control the world presently and to a great extent that is about to come to an end. The financial system worldwide is now out of control and there is no way to regain control. All the elitists can do is stop a crash landing. This is in part why we have mercenary armies on our soil and under contract to government. They will be used to control the public under Martial law. These elitist conglomerates even have their own intelligence sections and they employ those mercenary outfits to provide security.
The latest blast from the White House was to prepare for terror. This is the call for states and cities to make contracts with private security companies to hire mercenaries to guard companies and even communities against the phantom ravages of terrorism. Better yet, it is a step along the road to Martial law. We are hearing stories of entire communities being put behind walls and barbed wire with mercenaries guarding the complexes 24/7 to assure safety. We read 36 publications a day in 5 languages, most American publications, and we cannot believe the crime we see. Their precautions are not just against crime, they are being pushed against communities by Washington and the likes of Blackwater to fend off terrorists. Private armies are in vogue and that is not good, because there forces could as well quickly become the enemy at the command of government. The then against us mentality is beginning to show its face in wealthy communities and among elitists. What the elitists are attempting won’t work if for no other reason than there are too many have-nots, and as they found out in the French Revolution you cannot kill them all, there are just too many of them. These multinational, transnational types may have their private armies but in the final analysis it won’t give them protection they seek. People are going to be very mad when they finally realize what has been done to them, and they won’t be taking any prisoners. You might say Mad Max lives.
The Wall Street Journal says that despite the seeming easing of the credit crisis in the wake of last month’s aggressive easing by the Fed, banks are still sitting on hundreds of billions of buyout loans. The paper adds that unless the pace of sales picks up, the banks will be stuck with $400 to $800 billion in toxic loans for sometime to come, and a scenario that will prove problematic if the economy slows, which it will, and corporate profits head south, which they will.
Only the highest quality tranches are finding takers, the paper is being sold at discounted levels. Only $30 billion of $310 billion of North American LBO loans has been sold so far, with $100 billion in debt expected to hit the market in just the next month. On Tuesday, the big Tocom shorts cut their net shorts by 3,370 contracts to 42,195, as Goldman increased their shorts by 27 contracts to 12,531. Silver shorts were cut by 182 contracts to 2,008.
Only a little more than a year is left before George and the neocons leave office and they have issued a new Homeland Security strategy calling on citizens and governments to develop a “culture of preparedness” to deal with natural disasters and terrorism. The 53-word document emphasizes an all-hazards approach to disasters.
First is the focus on al Qaeda’s desire to obtain weapons of mass destruction. Then there is the spread of improvised explosive devices from battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan to America. The policy is ludicrous. It is more fear mongering to create an enemy that doesn’t exist to keep the American populace in fear. This is also an effort to assure that Congress gives the president authority to eavesdrop on suspected terrorists in order to build a more perfect police state. We are being prepared for something that doesn’t exist, or exists only in the diseased minds of the administration.
America’s mortgage crisis is going to get considerably worse because of the level of fraudulent lending by mortgage originators and banks is much higher than previously estimated and we predicted. Defaults on subprime mortgages will continue to soar for another 18 months as unqualified mortgage holders struggle to meet their repayments, and tightening credit markets make ARM resets impossible. Our projection for economic growth in 2007 is 2% and zero to 1% in 2008. Thus, as unemployment rises more panic will ensue. Our big question is if governments tell us there has been so much fraud, why haven’t they brought criminal charges against lenders? The answer is if they do the world will find out that the Fed and our government encouraged the fraudulent lending – that is why. Then we will have to indict the people who approved and sanctioned such actions, such as Sir Alan Greenspan and our President.
In August foreclosures jumped 115% to 243,947 yoy, or one in 510 households of which about 40% end in forced sale or repossession. As this takes place house prices fall exacerbating the situation.
In the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, new housing projects fell 30% during the third quarter yoy and sales of new homes fell 20% with homes under $200,000 seeing the biggest decline. Cargo containers coming into US ports were supposed to set a record this year, but in reality imports are shrinking, off 1.4%.
The average vacancy rate in strip malls stands at 7.3% as of 6/30/07, and is expected to rise to 7.6% by yearend, the highest level since 1935.
The US Treasury 2007 budget deficit reported in at $162.8 billion as of 9/30 and the prior deficit was revised to $248.2 billion from $247.7 billion.
Home foreclosures doubled in September you at 223,538, including default and auction notices and bank repossessions, an 8% decline in August. California led the way with 51,259 and Florida was second with 33,354. That is one for every 557 households.
The Business Council and Conference Board found that 44.3% of 61 top CEO’s forecast economic conditions in their own industry would get worse over the next six months, while 16.4% see improvement. Thirty-nine percent see conditions unchanged; 24.4% saw worsening conditions, while 60% saw conditions staying the same.
Countrywide funded 44% fewer mortgage loans in September, while delinquencies increased and foreclosures doubled. They cut 4,935 jobs last month, leaving them with 55,932. They will cut 12,000 jobs, or 20% by December.
What the public is finally starting to realize is that inflation is a deliberate policy that will go on endlessly. People now looking for a crunch-up boom and soon everyone will want to swap dollars for real goods, no matter whether they need them or not. The idea is to get rid of the fiat currency. This happened to the continental currency of 1781 and to the French mandates territoriaux in 1796, and with the German marks in 1923.
September import price index increases were 1% mom and 5.2% yoy. This is inflationary as our government and the Fed members tell us they see no import price inflation.

Terror watch list swells to more than 755,000

Thursday October 25, 2007

WASHINGTON — The government's terrorist watch list has swelled to more than 755,000 names, according to a new government report that has raised worries about the list's effectiveness.
The size of the list, typically used to check people entering the country through land border crossings, airports and sea ports, has been growing by 200,000 names a year since 2004. Some lawmakers, security experts and civil rights advocates warn that it will become useless if it includes too many people.
"It undermines the authority of the list," says Lisa Graves of the Center for National Security Studies. "There's just no rational, reasonable estimate that there's anywhere close to that many suspected terrorists."
(Article continues below)

The exact number of people on the list, compiled after 9/11 to help government agents keep terrorists out of the country, is unclear, according to the report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). Some people may be on the list more than once because they are listed under multiple spellings.
Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., who plans a hearing on the report today, says "serious hurdles remain if (the list) is to be as effective as we need it to be. Some of the concerns stem from its rapid growth, which could call into question the quality of the list itself."

About 53,000 people on the list were questioned since 2004, according to the GAO, which says the Homeland Security Department doesn't keep records on how many were denied entry or allowed into the country after questioning. Most were apparently released and allowed to enter, the GAO says.
Leonard Boyle, director of the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center, which maintains the list, says in testimony to be given today that 269 foreigners were denied entry in fiscal 2006.
The GAO report also says:
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) could not specify how many people on its no-fly list, which is a small subset of the watch list, might have slipped through screening and been allowed on domestic flights.
TSA data show "a number of individuals" on the no-fly list passed undetected through screening and boarded international flights bound for the United States. Several planes have been diverted once officials realized that people named on the watch lists were on board.
Homeland Security has not done enough to use the list more broadly in the private sector, where workers applying for jobs in sensitive places such as chemical factories could do harm.
Boyle also urges that the list be used by for screening at businesses where workers could "carry out attacks on our critical infrastructure that could harm large numbers of persons or cause immense economic damage."
But the sheer size of the watch list raised the most alarms.
"They are quickly galloping towards the million mark — a mark of real distinction because the list is already cumbersome and is approaching absolutely useless," said Tim Sparapani of the American Civil Liberties Union.
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, says "creating and maintaining a comprehensive terrorist watch list is an enormous endeavor fraught with technical and tactical challenges."
The report, she says, "underscores the need to make the watch lists more accurate, to improve screening procedures at airports and the ports of entry, and to provide individuals with the ability to seek redress if they believe they have been wrongfully targeted."

Britain will be scarcely recognisable in 50 years if the immigration deluge continues

Britain will be scarcely recognisable in 50 years if the immigration deluge continues

How difficult it is to write about immigration without being misrepresented.
A few weeks ago, I suggested in this column that there should be a debate about the high levels of immigration in this country, and remarked that even parts of the BBC seemed to be coming around to this point of view.
A teenage scribbler in a liberal Sunday newspaper, who normally seems to write reasonable sense, virtually accused me of being a neo-Nazi.
He is married to a Turkish woman, and thought I might like to send her home. What nonsense.
He suggested that what I had written might lead to Asian shopkeepers having bricks thrown through their windows. Equal tripe.
(Article continues below)

He then concluded that assimilation of immigrants, rather than multiculturalism, was the way forward, which was precisely the view I had espoused.
Perhaps, therefore, I should state what I really believe. I do not want to send anyone home. I happen not to be married to a Turk, but I would be perfectly happy to be so.
I accept that immigration has had many beneficial consequences for this country. I abhor racism as much as the teenage scribbler.
In short, my views are those of most of my fellow countrymen, white, brown and black.
I also believe - again in common with most of my fellow countrymen, if polls and anecdotal evidence are any guide - that immigration has been running at too high a rate, and seems likely to continue to do so. Too high for what, our teenage scribbler may ask?
Too high for the well-being of the majority of people in this country, and too high also for the immigrants who are coming here.
According to projections by government statisticians, under present trends the population of this country will rise by five million, from 60 million, over the next ten years, and exceed 70 million by 2031.
They say that at least 70 per cent of this increase would be attributable to immigration. These projections do not seem to be excessive since they are shared by reputable academics.
They may even err on the cautious side. We learnt yesterday that one in seven prison inmates is foreign-born. It would be racist to infer that immigrants are more likely to commit crimes than native Britons.
I also doubt that the police and courts are targeting immigrants while letting off home-grown crooks. Might it be that the level of immigration has been even higher than official statistics admit, and that in urban areas one in seven accurately reflects the proportion of recent immigrants to people who have been born in the country?
At all events, we can surely agree that immigration has been running at an unprecedentedly high rate. It is also undeniable that this has been taking place without popular consent.
How could there have been such consent, given that the Government itself has greatly underestimated the size of the influx?
It expected fewer than 20,000 East Europeans, and perhaps as many as a million have turned up.
Much has been written about how high levels of immigration have placed, and will go on doing so, enormous strains on our infrastructure.
Fifteen cities the size of Birmingham would have to be built over the next 25 years if we were to accommodate the projected numbers.
This, in a country - I mean England, where nearly all the immigrants would come - which already has one of the highest population densities in the world, and where the housing stock, already in short supply, seems most unlikely to keep pace with demand.
These are powerful arguments.
But there is another one, which has to do with culture. My argument is not that British culture is necessarily superior to French culture or Chinese culture or Russian culture, rather that it is our own, and it falls to us to nourish it.
Whatever it is, it is certainly difficult to define, and goes much deeper than the 'shared values' Gordon Brown goes on about.
It has grown up over centuries, and has doubtless been enriched by successive waves of immigrants. It is fluid, not static.
And it is hardly likely to flourish in a multicultural Britain in which rising numbers of immigrants are encouraged to live their lives largely as they would have done if they had stayed at home, offering relatively little allegiance to their adopted country or its culture.
Some people say that multiculturalism is outmoded, but, in fact, it is still orthodox thinking.
Perhaps it would be possible to assimilate even the present rapid influx of immigrants into British culture if we really tried.
America, after all, did so in the second half of the 19th century, though it is a vast continent which offered newcomers almost limitless possibilities.
But the truth is that we are not trying. We are a small country with a high level of immigration and limited assimilation.
This is a debate about culture, not race. Nobody would be happier than me if, in 50 years' time, the Prime Minister, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Poet Laureate, the Lord Chief Justice, the Regius Professor of History at Oxford and the editor of the Times were all nonwhite.
The only question that interests me is whether a country that is recognisably British will survive in 50 or 100 years.
British culture, whatever it represents, is evidently not worth preserving in the view of some on the Left.
It is a curious paradox that some of its adherents believe that foreign cultures are worth safeguarding, but not our own.
One of the Left's best arguments against colonialism is that it involved placing a foreign culture above indigenous ones.
But when our own indigenous culture is threatened, we are told that it is parochial and small-minded to think about trying to defend it.
I have exactly the same feelings of sympathy for the French in parts of south-west France, who find hordes of English and Germans moving into their area and buying up the best houses.
These incomers sometimes expect everyone to speak to them in their own language, and they quite often make little attempt to integrate themselves into French society or culture.
Preserving one's own culture is at least as important as preserving one's infrastructure.
Actually, it is even more important, because new hospitals, houses and roads can, with a struggle, be built - but culture, once it has been undermined, cannot be recovered.
Let me repeat that I am in favour of planned immigration. I freely concede that this country's economy partly relies on many immigrants.
But, unless we acquire American habits of assimilation, I very much doubt that Britain can painlessly absorb the numbers of immigrants that are projected over the next 20 years.
The Government can make the excuse that the recent high levels of immigration were not expected. However, it can no longer say the same about the future.
Its own statisticians are telling them what is going to happen unless new measures are adopted. It would be an offence against democracy to steam on regardless.
Can we not, without flinging childish accusations of racism at one another, have a reasoned debate?

The Levi-Prodi law and the end of the Italian Internet

The Levi-Prodi law and the end of the Italian Internet

Posted by Beppe Grillo
http://www.beppegrillo.it/eng/2007/10/the_leviprodi_law_and_the_end.htmlRicardo Franco Levi

, Prodi’s right hand man , undersecretary to the President of the Council, has written the text to put a stopper in the mouth of the Internet. The draft law was approved by the Council of Ministers on 12 October. No Minister dissociated themselves from it. On gagging information, very quietly, these are all in agreement.
The Levi-Prodi law lays out that anyone with a blog or a website has to register it with the ROC, a register of the Communications Authority, produce certificates, pay a tax, even if they provide information without any intention to make money.
Blogs are being born every second, anyone can start one without a problem and they can write their thoughts, publish photos and videos.
In fact, the route proposed by Levi limits access to the Internet.
What young person is going to submit to all these hoops to do a blog?
the Levi-Prodi law obliges anyone who has a website or a blog to get a publishing company and to have a journalist who is on the register of professionals as the responsible director.
99% would close down.
The lucky 1% still surviving on the Internet according to the Levi-Prodi law would have to respond in the case of the lack of control on defamatory content in accordance with articles 57 and 57 bis of the penal code. Basically almost sure to be in prison.
The draft Levi-Prodi law has to be approved by Parliament. When Levi was asked what would happen to Beppe Grillo’s blog, he replied with perfect Prodian-bottom-protecting words: “It’s not up to he government to establish that. It’ll be for the Communications Authority to indicate with regulations, which people and which companies will have to register. And the regulations will arrive only after the law has been discussed and approved by the Lower House.”
Prodi and Levi take cover behind Parliament and the Beppe Grillo Communications Authority, but it’s them, and the Ministers who were present at the Council of Ministers who are responsible.
If the law gets passed, it’ll be the end of the Internet in Italy.
My blog won’t close. If I have to, I’ll transfer lock stock, barrel and server to a democratic State.
