Congress sticks it to U.S. farmers with passage of food safety bill that will actually cause fresh produce to be more dangerous

Mike Adams

(NaturalNews) The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2751 yesterday with a 216 to 144 vote (yes, many members of the House did not even vote). The so-called Food Safety Modernization Act now heads to the President to be signed into law.

When witnessing such a moment in history when the federal government greatly expands its power over an entire industry, it’s important to understand the Law of Unintended Consequences. Virtually everything bad that happens after a bill gets passed is due to this Law of Unintended Consequences.

On the surface, the intention behind the food safety bill seems innocent enough: Let’s all protect the food supply and prevent people from getting sick due to e.coli and salmonella exposure. But the reality of the result that emerges from the law is quite different.
Get ready for more dangerous, pesticide-ridden food from south of the border

Because the S.510 / HR 2751 food safety bill places an enormous new burden on U.S. farmers — yes, even small farms that are supposedly “exempt” — it’s going to drive many farmers out of business.

It will also erect new barriers to farmers entering the food production business, and this is especially true for the small local farmers who grow food for local co-ops, farmers’ markets and CSA organizations (Community Supported Agriculture). What we’re going to see from all this, then, is the following:

• A reduction in the available SUPPLY of fresh local produce.
• A loss of local farming know-how and food sustainability.
• The financial failure of CSAs, food co-ops and small local markets.
• The loss of countless jobs that were related to local food production.
• An INCREASE in the price of local food, especially organic food.
Food safety bill does nothing to address food imports

At the same time these huge regulatory burdens are thrust upon U.S. farmers, there are no new regulations required for food grown outside the United States.

This means that food coming into the USA from Mexico, Chile, Peru or anywhere else does not have to meet S.510 food safety regulations at all. The FDA, after all, doesn’t inspect greenhouses in Mexico or grape farms in Chile which export their products to the United States.

Furthermore, many dangerous chemical pesticides that have been banned in the USA are legal to use elsewhere, and foods treated with those pesticides are perfectly legal to import into the United States. So instead of buying food grown in the United States on small, organic farms, more U.S. consumers are going to be buying food grown elsewhere that’s treated with extremely toxic pesticides.

Here are some of the unintended consequences of all this:

• An INCREASE in the importation of fresh produce from other countries.

• A worsening of the agricultural trade imbalance between the U.S. and other nations.

• An INCREASE in the pesticide contamination of fresh produce sold at U.S. grocery stores.

• An INCREASE in agriculture jobs in Mexico, Chile, Peru and elsewhere, even while agriculture jobs are lost in the USA.

• A DECREASE in the overall safety of the food supply because now the proportion of foods imported from foreign countries with little or no regulatory oversight will greatly expand compared to U.S. grown foods.

In effect, then, what Congress has done is impaired the competitiveness of U.S. farms, shifted farming jobs out of the country, increased the pesticide residues in fresh produce sold in U.S. grocery stores and harmed local food security and sustainability by driving small, local farmers out of business.

Such is the nature of the Law of Unintended Consequences. And such is the nature of just about everything that Big Government tries to do when it threatens to “solve problems” by expanding its regulatory control over almost any industry.
We need food security in America

What Congress fails to understand is that we need food security far more than we need more FDA regulations. The knowledge base of local farmers who know how to grow, harvest and distribute food is far more valuable to the security of our nation than preventing a relatively small number of people from getting sick from e.coli each year (even if such a trade-off were a simplistic equation, which it isn’t). Because if we lose food security, then we become slaves to the big corporate food producers who are attempting to centralize food production and place food, seeds and crops under their absolute control.

A cynic might even suggest that was the whole purpose of the food safety bill in the first place: To destroy small farmers and centralize food production power in the hands of a few wealthy corporations. Whether that was the intent or not, it is certainly going to be the effect.

What Congress has done with this food safety bill, in effect, is to cripple America’s food production know-how and poison the population with far more dangerous pesticide-ridden produce that will now be imported from other countries instead. This bill should have been called the “Mexico Farming Jobs Act” because it’s going to shift countless jobs south of the border as farms in the USA realize they simply can’t operate under the immense burden of FDA regulatory tyranny.
What’s the definition of insanity?

It all makes you wonder what the members of Congress are really thinking. Don’t they ever step back and attempt to consider the real-world ramifications of their actions?

Time and time again, the U.S. government seems to do the opposite of what would reasonably be required to solve problems. Think about it: When the U.S. government wanted to stop Wall Street bankers and investment firms from wasting money, it simply handed them a few trillion dollars in new money so they could waste more.

When the government wanted to end debt spending, it spent more debt money out of the foolish belief that you can somehow end your debt by going deeper into it.

When the government claimed it would reduce your health care costs and cover everyone with health insurance, it passed a sick-care law that has only seen health care costs spiraling out of control while insurers cancel policies and end coverage for many children.

And now, the government claims to be making your food safer even though the real impact of the new law will be to make your food far more dangerous while destroying U.S. farming jobs.

This is why those who really know government also know that they who govern best govern the least. Instead of trying to “fix” all the nation’s problems by meddling with the actions of hard-working people trying to make a living (such as organic farmers), the government needs to simply get out of the way and let farmers produce their food without the heavy regulatory burden of the FDA — an agency that we know is frequently engaged in actions that can only be called criminal in nature (http://www.naturalnews.com/030461_S…).
Get ready for skyrocketing food prices in 2011 – 2013

With the passage of this food safety bill, I am now publicly predicting skyrocketing food prices over the next two years. We will see fresh, local produce become increasingly more expensive and more difficult to acquire. Many local farmers will shutter their businesses, and farming know-how will be lost for perhaps a generation. The damage that will be done to America’s food security and agricultural base is incalculable.

Such is the price we shall all pay for allowing our representatives in Washington to once again violate our Natural Right to grow food and exchange it for goods or cash with our neighbors. The reason this Natural Right was never even mentioned in the US Constitution, by the way, is because the right to grow your own food without government interference is such an obvious “Natural Right” (a God-given right, or a right that is self-evident) that our forefathers never imagined such a right would be infringed by the federal government.

Or if a right were ever infringed by the federal government, our forefathers were certain that the citizens of the United States of America would exercise their other Constitutional rights to nullify the attempted overreaching authority of the federal government and thereby restore their freedoms. Sadly, such a solution does not work when the majority of the population is lulled into a false sense of freedom by a government that deliberately lies to them on a daily basis. Freedom does not exist with the vast majority of the population has no interest in defending it.
Vegetable gardeners can learn something from marijuana growers

Better buy yourself some heirloom seeds while you have the chance. Plant your stealth garden and cover it with camouflage so the government can’t see it and order you to destroy it. Soon, backyard vegetable gardeners will need to operate like marijuana growers and start hiding their food from government’s prying eyes.

No doubt the U.S. federal government will start using spy satellites to identify “unregistered gardens” that will be targeted for termination. Soon, small farmers may even be raided by armed FDA agents who terrorize their operations and seize cabbages. Seriously.

It sounds crazy today, I know. But a decade ago, no one thought the government would ever outlaw raw cow’s milk and arrest ranchers for selling milk to their neighbors, and that’s now happening on a regular basis.

In five years, FDA farm raids may be routine. That is, if there’s anything left of the federal government (as we know it) in five years. I’m not sure how long they can keep up the financial house of cards, frankly. Always remember this enlightening fact: The entire federal government is just one paycheck away from collapse. I wonder how long FDA inspectors will keep harassing farmers if their paychecks stop? Remember, FDA employees have no loyalty to anything other than their paychecks. Once the money from Washington stops, the army of FDA mercenaries collapses virtually overnight.

And the resilient farmers of America will win in the end, I have no doubt. If I had to choose to live on a deserted island with either ten North Carolina farmers or ten FDA bureaucrats, the choice would be a no-brainer. Farmers can keep you alive. FDA bureaucrats will only stab you in the back, steal your coconuts, and refuse to do any actual work on their own.

They are, after all, parasites who feed on taxpayer dollars and lend nothing of value to society. If the FDA actually did anything useful at all, it would have banned mercury fillings to protect the public from mercury toxicity (http://www.naturalnews.com/030741_m…).

VIDEO: The Assault Against Free Speach Continues. Rev. Sharpton Calls for FCC Hearings On Talk Radio

Democrat talk radio host and Baptist minister Al Sharpton called for Rush Limbaugh and other radio talk show hosts to be dragged before the FCC to answer questions. Sharpton told the Ed Show last Thursday he supports McCarthy-like hearings. He wants the agency to squelch the First Amendment of political opponents:

Sharpton said he wants station owners and personalities — Limbaugh in particular — “to come in front of the FCC and answer direct questions on direct statements and how they may be offensive based on gender and race so that the FCC can then shape policy based on the results of those public hearings.”

“I wanted them to make an affirmative stand,” Sharpton said, “but if we’ve got to go into the public hearings to see if they can do that, I think that that would be a very, very good thing for the American public to see these people have to do this.”

Sharpton is part of an orchestrated government campaign to state manage all media, especially renegade media on the internet.

“The FCC also controls content on the radio and can yank the broadcast licenses of any radio stations that refuse to comply with its content censorship. This is why operators of ‘pirate radio stations’ are dealt with so harshly: For the government to allow any radio station to operate outside its censorship and control is to invite dissent,” writes Mike Adams.

On Monday, Barry Obama’s man at the FCC, Julius Genachowski, cinched enough support to begin the process of imposing FCC control over the internet under the guise of “net neutrality.”

Dare to Prepare: Collapse of Civilization Now Guaranteed

Eric Blair
Activist Post
August 4, 2010
http://www.activistpost.com/2010/08/dare-to-prepare-collapse-of.html

"It has been written" as the saying goes. For many generations there have been small groups of people who have researched and protested the criminal nature of our rulers who cast their disease on civilization. These activists screamed truth to the masses about humanity's hidden slavery, yet few listened.

However, the injustices have now become too extreme, too obvious, that the truth has risen to near critical mass with the independent-minded population. And indeed many more sheep, who unknowingly fund their own prison, are waking up by the minute.

But can this mass awakening prevent our civilization from collapsing during this detonation period? Sorry folks, the answer is no. Because even if "The Resistance" is successful in swiftly overtaking the controls of government and overturns the Federal Reserve, the dominoes set in motion by the corporate rulers are still likely to fall as they still control the food, the oil, and the heavy weapons. Furthermore, the Federal Reserve will fight it out to the death, and they have the power to simply shut everything down with a flick of the switch.

The excellent story last week by Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of Treasury under Reagan, called "The Year America Dissolved" dramatically describes the breakdown of civilization playing out in America:

It was 2017. Clans were governing America.

The first clans organized around local police forces. The conservatives’ war on crime during the late 20th century and the Bush/Obama war on terror during the first decade of the 21st century had resulted in the police becoming militarized and unaccountable.

As society broke down, the police became warlords. The state police broke apart, and the officers were subsumed into the local forces of their communities. The newly formed tribes expanded to encompass the relatives and friends of the police.

With the dollar’s demise, import prices skyrocketed. As Americans were unable to afford foreign-made goods, the transnational corporations that were producing offshore for US markets were bankrupted, further eroding the government’s revenue base.

The government was forced to print money in order to pay its bills, causing domestic prices to rise rapidly. Faced with hyperinflation, Washington took recourse in terminating Social Security and Medicare and followed up by confiscating the remnants of private pensions. This provided a one-year respite, but with no more resources to confiscate, money creation and hyperinflation resumed.

Organized food deliveries broke down when the government fought hyperinflation with fixed prices and the mandate that all purchases and sales had to be in US paper currency. Unwilling to trade appreciating goods for depreciating paper, goods disappeared from stores.

In an interview about the article, Roberts said he tried for years to reach people with facts and figures and hoped some fictional reality would work better. When asked if anything could be done to stop it, he responded "not at this rate." In addition to Roberts' piece comes the elite Rockefeller Foundation's analysis of the future of America. They are strikingly similar in their tone and outcomes:

The years 2010 to 2020 were dubbed the 'doom decade' for good reason: the 2012 Olympic bombing, which killed 13,000, was followed closely by an earthquake in Indonesia killing 40,000, a tsunami that almost wiped out Nicaragua, and the onset of the West China Famine, caused by a once-in a-millennium drought linked to climate change...

Not surprisingly, this opening series of deadly asynchronous catastrophes (there were more) put enormous pressure on an already overstressed global economy that had entered the decade still in recession...prompting the Economist headline: 'Is the Planet Finally Bankrupt?'

These dire circumstances forced tough tradeoffs. In 2015, the U.S. reallocated a large share of its defense spending to domestic concerns, pulling out of Afghanistan... Resource scarcities and trade disputes, together with severe economic and climate stresses, pushed many alliances and partnerships to the breaking point; they also sparked proxy wars and low-level conflict in resource-rich parts of the developing world. Nations raised trade barriers in order to protect their domestic sectors against imports and — in the face of global food and resource shortages — to reduce exports of agricultural produce and other commodities.

With government power weakened, order rapidly disintegrating, and safety nets evaporating, violence and crime grew more rampant. Countries with ethnic, religious, or class divisions saw especially sharp spikes in hostility.

So, the future "has been written" by the masters of the universe, reported on by Dr. Roberts, and has now entered the collective consciousness of a huge number of people. Whether the motivator is religion, science, economics, philosophy, government, or all of the above; the experts and the commoners alike see it coming, therefore it shall be. And most importantly, the powers-that-be require this rough road in America to pave their global agenda through.

The collapse has even entered into the mainstream debate by default or by popular demand. Given the rapid growth of the the resistance movement on the Internet, the mainstream news outlets know exactly which articles are driving traffic to their respective websites, and it isn't fluff pieces anymore. Sure we may look at a picture of Lindsay Lohan half-naked and wasted in some club while were on the Huffington Post, but that's not what drove us there. The stories with the sharp fangs of truth and outrage are primarily running the show now and they are fully aware of it.

The Roberts and Rockefeller warnings of complete collapse are a few years out, although we are certainly experiencing the first dominoes falling. It seems futile to try to stop the collapse, therefore the immediate focus should be on preparation. Does that mean we should stop waking people up? No, but we should encourage them to prepare now for a societal breakdown.

To the sheep who happened to stumble upon this radical little article and don't think it can happen in America -- picture your city as Detroit, but without Federal aid, food or fuel . . . and welcome to the new world order!

When The Collapse Comes, Will FEMA Camps Look Like Club Med?

John Galt
Activist Post
http://www.activistpost.com/2010/11/when-collapse-comes-will-fema-camps.html

The collapse of American society occurs in early 2011. The system was fundamentally headed toward this stunning unraveling for decades, but it took a multi-city nuclear "terror" attack on American soil to plunge the system into chaos.

Food, fuel, and medicine supply lines disappeared overnight and money quickly became useless. It was every man for himself and there was little the government could do to stem the flow of anarchy and looting in the streets.

Roving gangs of armed thugs began to stalk suburban streets, ransacking homes for rations. It is a time where everyone is gripped by fear and uncertainty. Communications are temporarily jammed, forcing those with electricity or battery radios to be glued to emergency broadcast signals. Reports of more bombs and street violence fill the airwaves.

You've just finished the last of your canned goods, water is no longer coming out of your tap, and the batteries are getting low in your car as you huddle to listen to the radio, refusing to turn it off for fear of missing important instructions. You gaze into your family's terrified eyes and contemplate your dismal options.

The government announces one-time sweeps of neighborhoods to "rescue" desperate citizens from the anarchy and bring them to gathering centers or camps where they will be guaranteed food and security. You've read articles and have seen movies about the nefarious nature of FEMA camps being described as prison internment camps -- and you remember post-Katrina New Orleans -- but what choice do you have?

You've exhausted your supplies, most of your neighbors already ran for the hills to stay with their extended family. Now, you begin to hear the rumbling patrols of bandits coming up your street smashing into your neighbors' homes. Just then you hear a government chopper marking its landing. The bandits duck and hide when they hear the helicopter, and the National Guard soldiers call out for survivors over the loudspeaker . . . .

You feel relieved to be on the chopper safe and sound with your family and a few precious belongings. You think to yourself, "This won't be so bad. Heck, they may even have TV to watch all the news of the unfolding chaos in safety, and at least we can use a toilet that flushes." Upon arrival, you learn that the camps will be on lockdown 24/7 for the inhabitants' protection -- at least until the tension dissipates.

Nonetheless, your family is grateful to cram into one room with cots to bunk on, one chest to store your personal items, three square meals a day, and dorm-style bathrooms to share with floor mates. You're happy to be assigned a job to feel useful during this time of crisis and to occupy your mind. It's also nice to have the support and companionship of other refugees, and you scarcely have time or energy to reflect on the prison-like rules in the complex.

As time progresses, more people are rescued to the camp and a functioning mini-community takes form, all under the watchful eyes of armed soldiers. The more time that passes, the more that free-thinking inhabitants begin to question how the government is still able to get food to the camps when there is such overwhelming disruption still displayed on the TV.

Realizing that food is still being grown and processed somewhere, it appears that it must be calm and tranquil somewhere. You begin to imagine beautiful farms with open corn fields, vegetable gardens, fresh milk, and swallows in the barn. Suddenly, you remember what it's like to be a free human being where strenuous work on the farm to achieve self-sufficiency seems far more appealing than the strictly enforced rules and menial tasks at the compound. You decide to pack the family to leave the compound and brave the wild unknown in search of independence.

However, the warden of the compound refuses to allow you to leave, as he's still convinced that it is far too dangerous to let anyone except armed soldiers to go off campus under his watch. He claims that other camps have allowed people leave only to find them slaughtered a day or two later.

Others begin to question their freedom, too, and a large group forms an alliance to venture out together. The warden then declares it a crime against the community's collective well-being to defect, claiming their jobs are too important to the survival of the compound.

Reality now sets in. Everyone immediately realizes that they are a prisoner. From then on life becomes nearly unbearable, but after a few years the best behaved inmates may be able to relocate into highly monitored condos in sanitized communities. Never mind the cameras in your house, they're for your protection. Keep your head down and do your duty.

Let's get real for a moment. Given all we know about corporate-government false flags and plans for FEMA camps, will we have the courage when we look into the scared eyes of our children to refuse government "help" when the manufactured collapse comes? Perhaps you'll be prepared with a month or two of rations, but, assuredly, that is when the remaining masses will be most desperate as well.

Tell us what you would do .

How to Survive the Collapse of America

Activist Post reviews National Bestseller, How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It, by author James Wesley, Rawles (makes an important Christmas gift)

Activist Post
Dec 20, 2010
http://www.activistpost.com/2010/12/how-to-survive-collapse-of-america.html

It's a sure sign of the times that a book titled, How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It: Tactics, Techniques and Technologies for Uncertain Times becomes a National Bestseller. First printed a year after the October financial crash of 2008 when the world awoke to the fragility of the "system," author James Wesley, Rawles offers a pragmatic and thorough guide to survive other potentially more severe future crashes.

The book does not go into extended detail about what may trigger the breakdown of civilization, but uses its precious 316 pages to inform readers of how to prepare for nearly any disaster. Many survival books are great references to have in your library should a disaster take place, but this book is essential to read and implement well before disaster occurs.

Author, Jim Rawles, a former U.S. Army Intelligence Officer and founder of the very popular website SurvivalBlog.com, not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk. He lives on a fully self-sufficient and well-stocked retreat "somewhere west of the Rockies." Upon reading the book, one thing is apparent: Rawles has written this book not as a "what if" guide, but rather a "when it happens" guide. The tone of urgent pragmatism enhances the assumption that disaster is not only inevitable, but perhaps imminent.

Rawles suggests that the collapse of America will likely be triggered by economic circumstances, notably the death of the dollar, which will then cause a domino effect where civilization as we know it will breakdown into chaos. The book describes the collapse of American society in brief detail, explaining that supply lines for food and fuel will likely grind to a halt, forcing a mass exodus of people out of cities into the suburbs and countryside. He also outlines how the government will be completely crippled by this ensuing anarchy due to the rapid increase in desperation and decrease in essential services. Despite this "most likely" scenario, Rawles also prepares readers to survive events like nuclear attacks on American soil.

This book becomes an invaluable resource in the incredibly detailed chapters about preparing for any collapse scenario; from your location and shelter, to food storage and production, water purification, tools and barter goods, medical supplies, bug-out bags, security measures, communication and much more. Rawles covers each of these categories, providing organized and thoughtful plans to implement self-sufficiency preparation.

It's worth listing the chapter titles to help better explain how very thorough this book is:

1. The Survival Mind-Set for Living in Uncertain Times
2. Priorities: Your List of Lists
3. The Survival Retreat
4. Water: A Key Resource
5. The Deep Larder: Your Family's Food Storage
6. Fuel and Home Power
7. Gardens and Livestock
8. Medical Supplies and Training
9. Communications and Monitoring
10. Home Security and Self-Defense
11. Firearms for Self-Sufficiency and Self-Defense
12. G.O.O.D. Vehicles and the Dreaded Trip Outta Dodge
13. Investing, Barter, and Home-Based Business
14. It Comes Down to You

Consequently, because the book is so detailed, it can be somewhat intimidating. The second chapter labeled Priorities is immensely comprehensive and can seem impossible for readers to implement -- particularly those who feel the collapse is presently upon us. However, Rawles' priority lists are indeed necessary for anyone who wishes to survive with relative comfort in the worst of times. Readers should get to work on as much of the priority list as can be reasonably achievable.

Rawles is the consummate survival expert and consultant, yet he still says it is impossible to prepare on all the necessary levels without help. And although he says he understands the instinct to go "lone wolf," he declares it is utterly foolish to believe you will be better off alone than with a group. He states that this is especially true when it comes to security. So, as we have pointed out in past articles, collapse survival will be tribal -- begin recruiting like-minded people now.

One especially important tip in the book that can be easily achievable for most people, and will help cover gaps in your preparation plan, is to stock up on pre-1965 dimes for bartering. They are 1/10th of an ounce and contain roughly 90% troy silver. In other words, if the dollar collapses and silver goes to $100 per ounce, then each dime will carry about $9 of trade value in today's marketplace. Therefore, if you stock up on this "junk silver" while making other preparations, then you may be able to trade them for any shortcomings.

America's decline by all measures will likely snowball, gaining size and speed with each tumble, and ultimately result in an avalanche that covers her in a long winter of suffering. In the end, this is a must-read book for anyone who feels that the fragile economic, environmental, and social system in America has tripped into decline. Preparation is no longer just for the fringe of society, but for the whole of aware citizens.

Coming Soon to Britain: Protest and Porno Bans

Kurt Nimmo
GCN Live.com
December 20, 2010
http://www.gcnlive.com/wp/2010/12/20/coming-soon-to-britain-protest-and-porno-bans/

First the British government floated the idea of banning protests. Now they are talking about censoring the internet.

The UK government has announced it is discussing a plan that would automatically block all pornographic websites. It is said the effort is designed to protect children.

According to NewsCore, the biggest broadband providers in the UK, including BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk, are being ordered to a meeting next month by Ed Vaizey, the communications minister, and will be instructed to block content.

In the past, people decided what to view on the internet. It was their responsibility to monitor what content their children viewed. Now the British nanny state will take over that job.

Draconian efforts to limit the free choices of individuals are often sold to citizens as a way to protect children. Far too many parents defer to the state and surrender control of their children to faceless bureaucrats and cops.

“This is a very serious matter. I think it is very important that it’s the ISPs that come up with solutions to protect children,” declared bureaucrat Vaizey.

“There is this very uneasy sense for parents of children that we do not have to tolerate this Wild West approach,” said Claire Perry, the Tory MP for Devizes who is described as a “keen lobbyist for more restrictions,” in other words an advocate for more state power over the individual. “We are not coming at this from an anti-porn perspective. We just want to make sure our children aren’t stumbling across things we don’t want them to see.”

The totalitarian state of China also decides what people will see over the internet. China’s focus is not on porno per se, but protest against its authoritarian rule. It has cracked down on instant messaging, chatrooms, text messages, and blogs because the technology was successfully used to organize demonstrations against the government.

China’s move to censor the internet began with regulations. It soon introduced measures to prevent citizens from “defaming” the government and ultimately moved to institute what has become known as the Great Firewall of China. All internet traffic is routed through proxy servers and gateways controlled by the government.

The effort to block content from Britons began with child pornography. It will now include adult pornography. No telling what sites will be next. Maybe political sites disapproved by the government. If the British government can shut down political protest in the street, it can likewise shut it down over the internet, especially when the example of violent jihadist websites is used to scare people into submission.

Earlier this month, after students protested the government’s plan to double college tuition, Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson said he wouldn’t “rule out” shutting down the civil liberties of Britons. “It is one of the tactics we will look at and something we will keep under review, and if we think it is the right thing to do then we will do it,” he said.

The decision to deny citizens the right to protest grievances came after the building housing Tory HQ in Millbank was severely damaged, violence occurred in Parliament Square, mass arrests were conducted in Trafalgar Square, and and a car carrying Prince Charles and Camilla was attacked.

The media in Britain raised the specter of violence against the royal couple. It also mentioned the 1974 kidnap attempt on Princess Anne.

The riots followed a predictable pattern. As thousands of students and others protested the tuition increase, the usual “anarchist” subjects attacked Millbank and assaulted police. Cameras captured the violence and put the appropriate spin on the events in the lead-up to Stephenson’s announcement.

In 2008, firebrand MP George Galloway accused the London cops of engaging in “a deliberate conspiracy to bring about scenes of violent disorder” during Bush’s visit to the UK in 2008. Agents provocateurs — otherwise known as anarchists – attacked banks on Victoria Street in London during the G20, providing the cops with an excuse to arrest activists and even kill a man.

During the Olympics in Vancouver earlier this year, activists accused the police of dispatching agents provocateurs. During the G20 in September, 2009, undercover cops infiltrated a March Against Police Brutality at the University of Pittsburgh.

From FBI “stings” of clueless patsies to cops pretending to be activists in Greece and Canada and beyond, government is in the business of creating violence and chaos – and some would say pornography – in order to propose, enact, and enforce draconian laws that rob the average person of his or her liberties in order to make the claim they are protecting them.

Waiting To Exhale: Climate Criminals Want To Tax Every Breath You Take

“It is generally accepted that one of the functions of taxation should be to redistribute incomes and wealth. It is often assumed that this function requires incomes to be taxed directly. “Revenue from global taxes and putting a new global currency into circulation could then provide a stable source of finance for UN expenditures including international peace-keeping programs. Some of the revenue might also be distributed to all nations according to their populations, reflecting the right of every person in the world to a "global citizen's income" based on an equal share of the value of global resources.” --Club of Rome, Towards an EU strategy for sustainable development

They have been sucked into a pipe dream through persuasion techniques and beautiful imagery. These poor fools are worshiping at the alter of the green god pledging their undying loyalty and resources. Behind the elaborate smoke and mirrors is a trillion dollar engine funding this ruthless gambit for all the wrong reasons. The earth is not their concern, the people are not their concern, they want to be the ultimate global control freaks using their religion to be a means to a Malthusian end.

“The World State in this ideal presents itself as the sole landowner of the earth, with the great local governments I have adumbrated, the local municipalities, holding, as it were, feudally under it as landlords. The State or these subordinates holds all the sources of energy, and either directly or through its tenants, farmers and agents, develops these sources, and renders the energy available for the work of life. It or its tenants will produce food, and so human energy, and the exploitation of coal and electric power, and the powers of wind and wave and water will be within its right. It will pour out this energy by assignment and lease and acquiescence and what not upon its individual citizens.” --H.G. Wells, A Modern Utopia

Governments around the world have stripped away at not only the rights of its citizenry, their inheritance by right of birth and any lingering dignity. They levy taxes on everything imaginable and even the intangible. Previous generations would be up in arms literally if their governments tried taxing rainwater and private water wells. There are new tax 'schemes’ being discussed every day such as the 'fat’ tax and the robin hood tax and many others. Now these blood sucking parasites want to tax the very air we breath!

“Like oil, oxygen is a fuel. Our fuel. The only difference between oxygen and oil is that you can see oil, as Alaskans will testify. But, as any foreigner in Mexico City will also testify, you can certainly feel the lack of oxygen. As such, it can be argued that its producers may have a right to join the markets for coffee, grains, oil and metals--on the commodity exchanges.
That's how we should treat it. As a commodity.” --Bill Manson, Tax the Air to Save the Amazon

“Ever since you were born, you’ve been breathing oxygen for free, Right? Well the masters of mundane marketing agree that it is time for you to adjust your thinking. Yes, you can breathe air for free; but how lame is that? Naturally occuring oxygen is just so 10,000 years ago. It’s time for you to begin breathing more pure, more refreshing oxygen.” --Canned Oxygen Could Be the Next Bottled Water

What unbelievable bastards is the only thing that comes to mind as I am literally trembling in anger. Our lives are in the hands of psychopaths with an army of propagandists and ivy league intellectuals. They have attempted to tax every thing under the sun so it doesn’t surprise me. They will give us a wonderful song and dance about using the tax money to plant trees but they will funnel that money to the UN and various non-government organizations to come up with the next scheme. If you are farmers or pet owners your taxes will be doubled. At this point why don’t you just take all our money and give us back what you think we should have.

“Environmental taxes are now being used for several purposes. For example, a number of cities are now taxing cars that enter the city center. Some governments are simply imposing a tax on automobile ownership. In Denmark, the registration tax on the purchase of a new car exceeds the price of the car by 180 percent. A new car that sells for $20,000 costs the buyer $56,000. In Singapore, the tax on a $14,200 Ford Focus, more than triples the price, pushing it to $45,500.

Cap-and-trade systems using tradable permits are sometimes an alternative to environmental tax restructuring. The principal difference is that with permits, governments set the allowed amount of an activity and let the market set the price of the permits as they are auctioned off or given away. With environmental taxes, in contrast, the environmentally destructive activity’s price is incorporated in the tax rate, and the market determines the amount of the activity that will occur at that price.” --Environmental Taxes, Better for the Planet & Economy

The austere measures have been implemented on all of humanity. A tax on oxygen or carbon dioxide is a tax for merely living. The attack on carbon is an attack on life as we are carbon life forms. It is the perfect weapon to use against the population and sadly there are so many who are cheerleaders for their own demise. The silent encroachment on our fundamental human rights will not be taken lightly or forgiven. We are all interconnected on this earth regardless of distance or differences. In the core of each one of us there exists something that we cherish and something that we instinctively protect, our own survival.

Tipping Point: 25 Signs That The Coming Financial Collapse Is Now Closer Then Ever

The Economic Collapse
December 17, 2010
http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/tipping-point-25-signs-that-the-coming-financial-collapse-is-now-closer-then-ever

The financial collapse that so many of us have been anticipating is seemingly closer then ever. Over the past several weeks, there have been a host of ominous signs for the U.S. economy. Yields on U.S. Treasuries have moved up rapidly and Moody’s is publicly warning that it may have to cut the rating on U.S. government debt soon. Mortgage rates are also moving up aggressively. The euro and the U.S. dollar both look incredibly shaky. Jobs continue to be shipped out of the United States at a blistering pace as our politicians stand by and do nothing. Confidence in U.S. government debt around the globe continues to decline. State and local governments that are drowning in debt across the United States are savagely cutting back on even essential social services and are coming up with increasingly “creative” ways of getting more money out of all of us. Meanwhile, tremor after tremor continues to strike the world financial system. So does this mean that we have almost reached a tipping point? Is the world on the verge of a major financial collapse?

Let’s hope not, but with each passing week the financial news just seems to get eve worse. Not only is U.S. government debt spinning wildly toward a breaking point, but many U.S. states (such as California) are in such horrific financial condition that they are beginning to resemble banana republics.

But it is not just the United States that is in trouble. Nightmarish debt problems in Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Belgium and several other European nations threaten to crash the euro at any time. In fact, many economists are now openly debating which will collapse first – the euro or the U.S. dollar.

Sadly, this is the inevitable result of constructing a global financial system on debt. All debt bubbles eventually collapse. Currently we are living in the biggest debt bubble in the history of the world, and when this one bursts it is going to be a disaster of truly historic proportions.

So will we reach a tipping point soon? Well, the following are 25 signs that the financial collapse is rapidly getting closer….

#1 The official U.S. unemployment rate has not been beneath 9 percent since April 2009.

#2 According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are currently 6.3 million vacant homes in the United States that are either for sale or for rent.

#3 It is being projected that the U.S. trade deficit with China could hit 270 billion dollars for the entire year of 2010.

#4 Back in 2000, 7.2 percent of blue collar workers were either unemployed or underemployed. Today that figure is up to 19.5 percent.

#5 The Chinese government has accumulated approximately $2.65 trillion in total foreign exchange reserves. They have drained this wealth from the economies of other nations (such as the United States) and instead of reinvesting all of it they are just sitting on much of it. This is creating tremendous imbalances in the global economy.

#6 Since the year 2000, we have lost 10% of our middle class jobs. In the year 2000 there were approximately 72 million middle class jobs in the United States but today there are only about 65 million middle class jobs.

#7 The United States now employs about the same number of people in manufacturing as it did back in 1940. Considering the fact that we had 132 million people living in this country in 1940 and that we have well over 300 million people living in this country today, that is a very sobering statistic.

#8 According to CoreLogic, U.S. housing prices have now declined for three months in a row.

#9 The average rate on a 30 year fixed rate mortgage soared 11 basis points just this past week. As mortgage rates continue to push higher it is going to make it even more difficult for American families to afford homes.

#10 22.5 percent of all residential mortgages in the United States were in negative equity as of the end of the third quarter of 2010.

#11 The U.S. monetary base has more than doubled since the beginning of the most recent recession.

#12 U.S. Treasury yields have been rising steadily during the 4th quarter of 2010 and recently hit a six-month high.

#13 Incoming governor Jerry Brown is scrambling to find $29 billion more to cut from the California state budget. The following quote from Brown about the desperate condition of California state finances is not going to do much to inspire confidence in California’s financial situation around the globe….

“We’ve been living in fantasy land. It is much worse than I thought. I’m shocked.”

#14 24.3 percent of the residents of El Centro, California are currently unemployed.

#15 The average home in Merced, California has declined in value by 63 percent over the past four years.

#16 Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has come up with a new way to save money. He wants to cut 20 percent of Detroit off from essential social services such as road repairs, police patrols, functioning street lights and garbage collection.

#17 The second most dangerous city in the United States – Camden, New Jersey – is about to lay off about half its police in a desperate attempt to save money.

#18 In 2010, 55 percent of Americans between the ages of 60 and 64 were in the labor market. Ten years ago, that number was just 47 percent. More older Americans than ever find that they have to keep working just to survive.

#19 Back in 1998, the United States had 25 percent of the world’s high-tech export market and China had just 10 percent. Ten years later, the United States had less than 15 percent and China’s share had soared to 20 percent.

#20 The U.S. government budget deficit increased to a whopping $150.4 billion last month, which represented the biggest November budget deficit on record.

#21 The U.S. government is somehow going to have to roll over existing debt and finance new debt that is equivalent to 27.8 percent of GDP in 2011.

#22 The United States had been the leading consumer of energy on the globe for about 100 years, but this past summer China took over the number one spot.

#23 According to an absolutely stunning new poll, 40 percent of all U.S. doctors plan to bail out of the profession over the next three years.

#24 As 2007 began, there were just over 1 million Americans that had been unemployed for half a year or longer. Today, there are over 6 million Americans that have been unemployed for half a year or longer.

#25 All over the United States, local governments have begun instituting “police response fees”. For example, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has come up with a plan under which a fee of $365 would be charged if police are called to respond to an automobile accident where no injuries are involved. If there are injuries as a result of the crash that is going to cost extra.

VIDEO: Lindsey Williams: Crude Oil Price Targeted for $150-200 per Barrel

December 16, 2010
http://www.gcnlive.com/wp/2010/12/16/lindsey-williams-crude-oil-price-targeted-for-150-200-per-barrel/

During his hour-long radio interview on the Alex Jones show today, broadcast over GCNLive.com, longtime Alaska oil reserves expert Lindsey Williams told Alex that he’d learned recently from two of this longtime friends, both retired top executives of major oil producers, that the price of crude oil, now rising again, is slated to move to $150-200 per barrel soon. According to Williams, the equivalent price of gasoline at the pump should range then between $4-5 per gallon. In fact, the price for drivers in California is about four dollars already, he said.

Williams also told Alex that one of the execs had said him that the Euro is slated for collapse soon, although at an unspecified time. Once this happens, the dollar will collapse within the next two to three weeks, wiping out tens of millions of Americans financially, presumably within a few days or a few weeks.

Lindsey emphasized once again, as he has done on all his interviews with Alex over the years, that he knows these executives very well and trusts their information because these predictions are always on target and on time. For this reason he implored Alex’s listeners to get prepared now for collapse of dollar and do whatever will be necessary for to survive and then live through this debacle.

Williams became a friend and trusted confidant of these executives while he served as chaplain for them and their construction crews building the Alaska pipeline during the 1970s. During that stay he learned that both of these executives were privy to the plans of the globalist elite to bring down nations of the world and create a new world order economy. Because they trusted him, they allowed him to sit in on their private meeting and listen to them discuss their often-secret plans and programs.

Both executives have maintained their friendship with Williams since their days on the pipeline project with him. They have also been willing to reveal the future plans of the globalists every so often ever since. Furthermore, they have even let him reveal much of this information to the public during his radio interviews, through the videos he produces and through the content of his book, The Energy Non-Crisis.

16 Nightmarish Economic Trends To Watch Carefully In 2011

The American Dream
Dec 15, 2010
http://endoftheamericandream.com/

If you only watch the “economic pundits” on television, it can be very confusing to figure out exactly what is happening with the U.S. economy. One pundit will pull out a couple statistics that got a little bit better over the past month and claim that we have entered a time of solid recovery. Another pundit will pull out a couple statistics that got a little worse over the past month and claim that we are headed for trouble. So what is the truth? Well, if you really want to get a clear idea of what is really going on you have to look at the long-term trends. There are some economic trends which just keep getting worse year after year after year, and it is those trends that tell the real story of the decline of our economic system.

As you examine the long-term trends, you quickly come to realize that the U.S. is trapped in an endless spiral of debt, the middle class is being wiped out, the U.S. dollar is being destroyed and America is rapidly becoming a post-industrial wasteland.

Posted below are 16 nightmarish economic trends to watch carefully in 2011. It is becoming exceedingly apparent that unless something is done rapidly we are heading for an economic collapse of unprecedented magnitude….

#1 Do you want to see something scary? Just check out the chart below. Since the beginning of the economic downturn, the U.S. monetary base has more than doubled. But don’t worry – Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has promised us that this could never cause inflation. In fact, Bernanke says that we need to inject even more dollars into the economy. So if you are alarmed by the chart below, you are just being irrational according to Bernanke…

#2 Thousands of our factories, millions of our jobs and hundreds of billions of dollars of our national wealth continue to be shipped overseas. In 1985, the U.S. trade deficit with China was 6 million dollars for the entire year. In the month of August alone, the U.S. trade deficit with China was over 28 billion dollars. Nobel economist Robert W. Fogel of the University of Chicago is projecting that the Chinese economy will be three times larger than the U.S. economy by the year 2040 if current trends continue.

#3 The United States is rapidly becoming a post-industrial wasteland. Back in 1959, manufacturing represented 28 percent of all U.S. economic output. In 2008, it represented only 11.5 percent and it continues to fall. Sadly, the truth is that America is being deindustrialized. As of the end of 2009, less than 12 million Americans worked in manufacturing. The last time that less than 12 million Americans were employed in manufacturing was in 1941.

#4 The number of Americans that have been out of work for an extended period of time has absolutely exploded over the last few years. As 2007 began, there were just over 1 million Americans that had been unemployed for half a year or longer. Today, there are over 6 million Americans that have been unemployed for half a year or longer.

#5 The middle class continues to be squeezed out of existence. According to a poll taken in 2009, 61 percent of Americans ”always or usually” live paycheck to paycheck. That was up substantially from 49 percent in 2008 and 43 percent in 2007.

#6 The number of Americans living in poverty is absolutely skyrocketing. 42.9 million Americans are now on food stamps, and one out of every six Americans is now enrolled in at least one anti-poverty program run by the federal government. Unfortunately, many of those that have been hardest hit by this economic downturn have been children. According to one new study, approximately 21 percent of all children in the United States are living below the poverty line in 2010 – the highest rate in 20 years.

#7 Many American families have been pushed beyond the breaking point during this economic downturn. Over 1.4 million Americans filed for personal bankruptcy in 2009, which represented a 32 percent increase over 2008. The final number for 2010 is expected to be even higher.

#8 The U.S. real estate market continues to stagnate. During the third quarter of 2010, 67 percent of mortgages in Nevada were “underwater”, 49 percent of mortgages in Arizona were “underwater” and 46 percent of mortgages in Florida were “underwater”. So what happens if home prices go down even more?

#9 More elderly Americans than ever are being forced to put off retirement and continue working. In 2010, 55 percent of Americans between the ages of 60 and 64 were in the labor market. Ten years ago, that number was just 47 percent. Unfortunately, it looks like this problem will only get worse in the years ahead. In America today, approximately half of all workers have less than $2000 saved up for retirement.

#10 In the United States today, there are simply far too many retirees and not nearly enough workers to support them. Back in 1950 each retiree’s Social Security benefit was paid for by 16 workers. Today, each retiree’s Social Security benefit is paid for by approximately 3.3 workers. By 2025 it is projected that there will be approximately two workers for each retiree.

#11 Financial assets continue to become concentrated in fewer and fewer hands. For example, the “big four” U.S. banks (Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo) had approximately 22 percent of all deposits in FDIC-insured institutions back in 2000. As of the middle of 2009 that figure was up to 39 percent.

#12 The Federal Reserve has been destroying the value of the U.S. dollar for decades. Since the Federal Reserve was created in 1913, the U.S. dollar has lost over 95 percent of its purchasing power. An item that cost $20.00 in 1970 would cost you $112.35 today. An item that cost $20.00 in 1913 would cost you $440.33 today.

#13 Commodity prices continue to soar into the stratosphere. Ten years ago, the price of a barrel of oil hovered around 20 to 30 dollars most of the time. Today, the price of oil is rapidly closing in on 100 dollars a barrel and there are now fears that it could soon go much higher than that.

#14 Federal government spending is completely and totally out of control. The U.S. government budget deficit increased to a whopping $150.4 billion last month, which represented the biggest November deficit on record. But our politicians can’t seem to break their addiction to debt. In fact, Democrats are trying to ram through a 1,924 page, 1.1 trillion dollar spending bill in the final days of the lame-duck session of Congress before the Republicans take control of the House of Representatives next year.

#15 The U.S. national debt is rapidly closing in on 14 trillion dollars. It is more than 13 times larger than it was just 30 short years ago. According to an official U.S. Treasury Department report to Congress, the U.S. national debt is projected to climb to an estimated $19.6 trillion by 2015.

#16 Unfortunately, the official government numbers grossly understate the horrific nature of the crisis we are facing. John Williams of Shadow Government Statistics has calculated that if the federal government would have used GAAP accounting standards to measure the federal budget deficit for 2009, it would have been approximately 8.8 trillion dollars. Not only that, but John Williams now says that U.S. government debt is so wildly out of control that it is mathematically impossible for us to “grow” our way out of it….

The government’s finances not only are out of control, but the actual deficit is not containable. Put into perspective, if the government were to raise taxes so as to seize 100% of all wages, salaries and corporate profits, it still would be showing an annual deficit using GAAP accounting on a consistent basis. In like manner, given current revenues, if it stopped spending every penny (including defense and homeland security) other than for Social Security and Medicare obligations, the government still would be showing an annual deficit. Further, the U.S. has no potential way to grow out of this shortfall.

The more one examines the U.S. economic situation, the more depressing it becomes. The U.S. financial system is trapped inside a horrific debt spiral and we are headed straight for economic oblivion.

If our leaders attempt to interrupt the debt spiral it will plunge our economy into a depression. If our leaders attempt to keep the debt spiral going for several more years it will just make the eventual crash even worse. Either way, we are headed for a financial implosion that will be truly historic.

The debt-fueled good times that we have been enjoying for the last several decades are rapidly coming to an end. Unfortunately for the tens of millions of Americans that are already suffering, our economic problems are only going to get worse in the years ahead.

So what do you think? Do you agree that the U.S. economy is doomed? Please feel free to leave a comment with your opinion….

24 Signs That All Of America Is Becoming Just Like Detroit – A Rotting, Post-Industrial, Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland

The American Dream
Dec 7, 2010
http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/24-signs-that-all-of-america-is-becoming-just-like-detroit-a-rotting-post-industrial-post-apocalyptic-wasteland

For years, people have been laughing at the horrific economic decline of Detroit. Well, guess what? The same thing that happened to Detroit is now happening to dozens of other communities across the United States. From coast to coast there are formerly great manufacturing cities that have turned into rotting, post-industrial war zones. In particular, in America’s “rust belt” you can drive through town after town after town that resemble little more than post-apocalyptic wastelands. In many U.S. cities, the “real” rate of unemployment is over 30 percent. There are some communities that will start depressing you almost the moment you drive into them. It is almost as if all of the hope has been sucked right out of those communities.

Meanwhile, the economic downturn has been incredibly hard on the finances of state and local governments across the United States. Unlike the federal government, state and local governments cannot use the Federal Reserve to play games with their exploding debt burdens. Facing horrific budget deficits, many communities have begun adopting “austerity measures” in an attempt to slow the flow of red ink. All over the nation, deep budget cuts are slashing police departments, fire departments and other basic social services, but it seems like no matter what many of these communities try the debt just keeps growing.

DETROIT Case Study: The Deindustrialization of America and Fall of the Republic

So when you combine economic hopelessness with drastic budget cuts, what you get are hordes of communities from coast to coast that are becoming just like Detroit. In the city of Detroit today, there are over 33,000 abandoned houses, 44 schools have been permanently closed down, the mayor wants to bulldoze one-fourth of the city and you can literally buy a house for one dollar in the worst areas. Many Americans thought that it was funny to make fun of Detroit, but little did they know that what happened there would soon start happening everywhere.

The following are 24 signs that all of America is becoming a rotting, post-industrial, post-apocalyptic wasteland just like Detroit….

#1 The second most dangerous city in the United States – Camden, New Jersey – is about to lay off about half its police.

#2 In the city of Camden, about the only “industries” that are truly thriving are drug-dealing and prostitution. It is estimated that there are literally dozens of open-air drug markets in Camden.

#3 The city of Newark, New Jersey laid off 13 percent of its police force just last week.

#4 Of 315 municipalities the New Jersey State Policemen’s union recently surveyed, more than half indicated that they were planning to lay off police officers.

#5 At least 1000 people now live in the 200 miles of flood tunnels that exist under the city of Las Vegas.

#6 All over America, asphalt roads are being ground up and are being replaced with gravel because it is cheaper to maintain. The state of South Dakota has transformed over 100 miles of asphalt road into gravel over the past year, and 38 out of the 83 counties in the state of Michigan have transformed at least some of their asphalt roads into gravel roads.

#7 The number of Americans on food stamps has hit yet another new all-time record. 42.9 million Americans are now enrolled and federal authorities fully expect that number to continue to skyrocket.

#8 The city of San Jose, California recently laid off 49 firefighters.

#9 Over the past year, approximately 100 of New York’s state parks and historic sites have had to cut services and reduce hours.

#10 In 2009 alone, approximately 4 million more Americans joined the ranks of the poor.

#11 The state of Arizona recently decided to stop paying for many types of organ transplants for people enrolled in its Medicaid program.

#12 Many of the police in Arizona that patrol communities near the border with Mexico say that they are “outmanned” and “outgunned” and now live in fear of being taken out by drug cartel assassins.

#13 Gang violence in America is getting totally out of control. According to authorities, there are now over 1 million members of criminal gangs operating inside the country, and those gangs are responsible for up to 80% of the violent crimes committed in the U.S. each year.

#14 Oakland, California Police Chief Anthony Batts has announced that due to severe budget cuts there are a number of crimes that his department will simply not be able to respond to any longer. The crimes that the Oakland police will no longer be responding to include grand theft, burglary, car wrecks, identity theft and vandalism.

#15 One out of every six Americans is now enrolled in at least one anti-poverty program run by the federal government.

#16 The state of Illinois is so far behind on its bills that not even schools and essential social services are getting their money on time.

#17 The sheriff’s department in Ashtabula County, Ohio has been slashed from 112 to 49 deputies, and there is now just one vehicle remaining to patrol all 720 square miles of the county.

#18 As our local communities degenerate economically, it appears that they are falling apart morally as well. There are approximately 400,00 registered sex offenders in the United States as you read this.

#19 In a desperate attempt to save money, the city of Colorado Springs turned off a third of its streetlights and put its police helicopters up for auction.

#20 According to one recent study, approximately 21 percent of all children in the United States are living below the poverty line in 2010.

#21 According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, more than 25 percent of America’s nearly 600,000 bridges need significant repairs or are burdened with more traffic than they were designed to carry.

#22 In Georgia, the county of Clayton recently eliminated its entire public bus system in order to save 8 million dollars.

#23 Things have gotten so bad in Stockton, California that the police union put up a billboard with the following message: “Welcome to the 2nd most dangerous city in California. Stop laying off cops.”

#24 Major cities such as Philadelphia, Baltimore and Sacramento have instituted “rolling brownouts” in which various city fire stations are shut down on a rotating basis. So if you live in one of those cities and you have a fire, you had better hope that your local fire station is not scheduled for a “brownout” that day.

As I have documented in article after article, the “American Dream” is rapidly becoming the American Nightmare. We were once a nation that was endlessly expanding, endlessly growing and endlessly becoming more powerful, but now just the opposite is happening.

All of this didn’t happen overnight. Back in 1982, Billy Joel could see what was starting to happen and he released a song entitled “Allentown” which captured the depression that many residents of once great steel cities were experiencing. The song started out with these two lines….

Well we’re living here in Allentown
And they’re closing all the factories down

Well, the United States has lost over 42,000 factories since 2001 and now all of America is turning into “Allentown”.

Unfortunately, things are going to get even worse. Thousands more factories and millions more jobs will be sent overseas. The debt loads of our state and local governments will continue to skyrocket. The truth is that city after city after city is going to start looking like something out of a third world country.

But perhaps you disagree. Perhaps you believe that America’s greatest days are just around the corner. Please feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts below….

VIDEO: At the IMF, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Thailand, Rebel Against Globalized Hot Money Speculation Stoked by Bernanke's QE2; Capital Controls.....

http://tarpley.net/2010/10/13/at-the-imf-japan-korea-brazil-thailand-rebel-against-globalized-hot-money/

The just concluded fall session of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank may in retrospect mark the beginning of the end of the post-1990 world system based on financial globalization and the unbridled supremacy of speculative hot money flows. Meeting in Washington, the representatives of 187 countries utterly failed to reach any agreement reaffirming the discredited “Washington consensus,” which has functioned as the charter of the world looting and exploitation under the banner of globalization for the last two decades. They punted, and passed the buck to the IMF, which is almost certain to get nowhere. The death-knell of globalization may already have sounded.

The immediate perspective is that more and more countries will now manage their currencies and institute capital controls as a means for defending themselves against massive speculative influxes of hot cash, in particular from the notorious Federal Reserve 0% dollar carry trade. Capital controls allowed Malaysia to fare better than any other country caught up in the “Asian contagion” crisis of slightly more than a decade ago, so there is reason to believe that the current popularity of capital controls will be a modest step in the right direction. However, the beginnings of a real and permanent solution to the current world economic and financial depression require a restoration of the fixed currency parities and narrow bands of oscillation which characterized the Bretton Woods system of 1944 to 1971. A restoration of the positive features of Bretton Woods is now the concrete goal towards which international negotiations should now be directed, starting at the G20 meeting soon to be held in South Korea. National Tobin taxes to discourage speculation and aid distressed budgets should also be enacted.

The stage for this current crisis was set last May when the Anglo-American attack on the euro, designed to provoke a panic crash of that currency, broke down — partly due to German self-defense, partly because of Chinese intervention, and partly because a high-frequency attack on the euro boomeranged against the Dow in the infamous “flash crash” of May 6. Since then, the euro has been steadily gaining ground, while the US dollar has lost about 13% of its value since mid-June. The forces of depression, represented by $1.5 quadrillion of kited, toxic, and bankrupt derivatives centered on New York, have been re-asserting themselves against the battered US greenback.

If smashing the euro was one prong of the Anglo-American game plan, then driving the Chinese renminbi up into the stratosphere was the other prong of an ongoing attempt by London and New York to export a world depression by beggaring their leading rivals in Frankfurt and Beijing. The attack on China had been speaheaded by the feckless Tiny Tim Geithner, so it is not surprising that the Chinese have largely ignored US demands, limiting the rise of the renminbi to just a couple of percentage points since the last bilateral confrontation in June.

Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Should we be elated or alarmed that Fox News host Glenn Beck now sounds almost identical to Alex Jones? Earlier this week on his television program, Beck talked about Pentagon war games which featured National Guard soldiers training to take on protesters holding signs with the words “FOOD NOW” scrawled on them.

On Beck’s website TheBlaze.com, a lengthy article appeared in which the author warned that the military is “preparing its domestic response to a potential economic collapse” focused around “civil unrest over lack of food caused by a financial crisis”.

Of course, we were talking about all this years ago but at the time, Beck labeled us “domestic extremists” for doing so. Has Beck had a complete change of heart? His 180 degree flip regarding Wikileaks’ Julian Assange in realizing that the threat posed by those who wish to abolish free speech in the United States is far greater than any harm done by Wikileaks itself suggests that Beck is starting to see beyond the left-right paradigm.

We’ve asked the question time and time again but with no real answer. If Beck continues to talk like this, will Fox News allow him to stay on air? Or is the whole thing all part of a revelation of the method process?

Beck is on the verge of going head to head with the same military-industrial complex that will enforce any martial law scenario, the same entity that funds and controls the corporate media which provides Beck with his platform.

This dichotomy seems irreconcilable, but it’s certainly going to be interesting to see how such a seemingly discordant conflict plays out in the long run.

Problem, Reaction, Solution: Derivatives, Crash, Too Big To Fail, Bailout, Nationalization, Budget Crisis, Privatization, Debt Slavery, Austerity, Evaporating Pensions, Central Banks, Big Government, World Government. It’s been quite a saga, but this economic crisis has been planned sabotage by design. The age of the Offshore Global Cartel is the age of economic warfare with the wealthy Western world. The 3rd World has largely already been brought to its knees. The remaining vestiges of national sovereignty must be eliminated and the middle class consumer society must be swept back to the feudal age by way of a tidal wave looting of living standards, cut wages & pensions, and the bread and circuses of cheap plastic goods and entertainment. The upper middle classes, the array of independent businesses, remaining lone giants and other true competition to the New World Order mafia economy system must be consolidated or dominated.

Alex Jones explains why it is the bankers or us will be free at the end of this crisis. The total cost of the derivatives is over $1.5 Quadrillion, a sum that will completely consume the world in perpetual debt, a sum that can never be repaid. It is an economic shearing, a shearing of the sheep. The economic crisis has always really been a complete transfer of power to the banking class.
