Get the Economics Right and Everyone Can Be Rich?

China, Argentina, and the mystery of the ‘middle income trap’ … Here is a fascinating chart from the joint report by the World Bank and Beijing’s Development Research Centre. It shows the fate that China risks if it clings too long to the catch-up growth model that’s been in place since Deng Xiaoping. It shows the vast difference in outcome between getting it right and getting it wrong. “If countries cannot increase productivity through innovation, they find themselves trapped. China does not have to endure this fate,” said the report. Remarkably few countries have achieved break-out, and once they do the gains are spectacular as you can see. The World Bank said Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mauritius, Israel, and Equatorial Guinea have all done so, as well as Korea and Japan. Ireland, Spain, Greece, and Portugal have also done so in Europe, though Greece risks slipping back into the lower tier if it is not careful, as Argentina famously did under Peron. But more than 90 other countries deemed middle-income in 1960 never made it. Bad politics was usually to blame, or ideological idiocy, with some bad luck. – UK Telegraph/Ambrose Evans-Pritchard

Dominant Social Theme:
Capitalist policies create richer countries. Central banking has nothing to do with it.

Free-Market Analysis:
Ambrose Evans-Pritchard has much to recommend him – despite being a prominent mainstream journo. Almost alone among his peers he’s been relentlessly hard-headed about the EU and even China. He’s made good calls.

His analyses are often thought provoking and accurate. But sometimes his Keynesian/monetarist orientation betrays him fundamentally. This would seem to be one of those times. We can see how flawed this worldview is versus free-market/Austrian analysis when we look at this article that he has penned.

We don’t mean to pick on Evans-Pritchard, by the way. Like many, we’ve benefited from his clear analysis of many world issues and the high-level sourcing to which he has access. He is far better than the majority of his peers and what he is enunciating here is mild compared to the flawed economic analysis that most offer.

But Keynesian-monetarism gets one in trouble sooner or later and this would seem to be one of those times. Of course, Evans-Pritchard would disagree with this because we’ve read arguments in which he denies he can be pigeonholed when it comes to economic argumentation. But we know what we see and read …

This latest article of his is a Keynesian oriented screed in the sense that it denies the overwhelming impact that monopoly fiat central banking money printing has on economies. He wants to make the case that certain countries have done well because they’ve gotten the “economics right.” We don’t see it.

He provides us with the example of Argentina and Australia, for instance. Argentina plunged into a socialist hole, he argues, from which it has never recovered. Australia, by aligning its government with the larger Invisible Hand, has prospered.

We tend to doubt this latter proclamation. Australia, more than Argentina, has been able to stave off immediate Armageddon (probably because its property bubble hasn’t fully popped yet) but the reality remains: Central banking economies are inherently unstable and always end the same way – in recession, depression and economic chaos.

The socialist Keynes had no answer to this. “In the long run we’re all dead,” he pleaded, and then went his way, heedlessly implementing his nonsensical system with the connivance of Western politicians desperate for a system (which he provided) that justified government interference in the marketplace.

Evans-Pritchard has argued vehemently in the past for Keynesian-type stimulation, even as European and US democrats argue similarly, along with emergent “Greenbackers,” in the US anyway.

The temptation to believe that to ensure prosperity government merely has to print paper-ticker nostrums satisfies some kind of profound psychological need. But psychological assuagement is not necessarily good economic theory. Here’s some more from Evans-Pritchard:

When I was in Dalian in September I heard China’s software king, Lee Kaifu, warn that the economic prize will elude the country unless it cleans up its intellectual property laws. Firms are already going off-shore to protect their inventions, and the best entrepreneurs are already moving to states with a commercial rule of law, he said.

“The role of the private sector is critical,” said the World Bank. “Innovation at the technology frontier is quite different in nature from catching-up technologically. It is not something that can be achieved through government planning.”

In my view, nothing is foreordained. China has a very good chance of making it into the rich club, and a roughly equal chance of blowing it. Wearing my hat as a historian/anthropologist, I suspect that this will be determined by forces that have nothing to do with economics. The sudden policy lurch of the 1890s comes to mind.

Doesn’t this sound convincing, dear reader? It ALWAYS does. And yet, if one delves into copyright and patent law, one finds that government, far from “supporting” innovation, is choking it off.

Britain and Germany, for instance, in the 17th and 18th centuries had markedly different copyright laws. Germany’s tended to be a good deal more lax and thus it would seem a good deal more information circulated at lower prices. In Britain, apparently, books and periodicals were a good deal more restricted by copyright law.

As a result, it can (and has) been argued that German society experienced a virtual efflorescence. This was the era in which great German musicians, philosophers, scientists and mathematicians surged to the fore of the world stage. Britain with its restrictive copyright laws was left in the proverbial dust.

Publishers grew rich in Britain. The average man grew richer in knowledge in Germany and the overall quality of life ascended. It would take two world wars for the British elites to fully control (and destroy) the German society that relaxed (or non-existent) copyright had created.

Always, black is white and up is down. The free market is not to be trusted. Government is the guardian of “free” markets. Restrict knowledge (via copyright, etc.) and there will be “more” of it. Make it harder for people to purchase and retain information and they will be better educated.

And most of all, “print money and we’ll all grow rich.” Any normal viewpoint would espouse the view that if there is MORE of something, those holding whatever it is will likely find a given possession devalued.

But money has “magic” qualities. Speak of “money” – as of “government” – and people’s faculties tend to go on holiday. Even Ambrose-Pritchard’s.

In this article, he argues, for instance, that Japan is one of the countries that “got it right” and joined the circle of “rich countries.” What countries is he talking about?

Is he talking about America – with its 20-plus percent unemployment (we think it’s closer to 30 percent)? Or is speaking perhaps about Europe with its bevy of bankrupt PIGS – Portugal, Greece, Ireland, Spain, etc.? Soon, we have no doubt, we’ll see France join that procession. Just wait ’til after the election.

Central banking is a curse. You can’t “get it right” with monopoly fiat. You can have a free market in every facet of the economy but if the money itself is controlled, forget about it. You’re doomed to recession, depression, inflation and, ultimately, social chaos and resurgent ruin. Some understand it better than others.

Dollar Alternative Anyone?

Countries around the world have been actively seeking ways to not do business in dollars for the past few years. The U.S. dollar is the so-called world reserve currency, but the big question is for how long? China and Japan are beginning to shun the dollar in trade between the two countries. Mind you, this is the 2nd biggest economy in the world doing business without dollars with the 3rd biggest economy in the world. Russia and China, also, have an agreement to not use the dollar, and even India recently announced it would trade gold for oil with Iran. Additionally, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been calling for an alternative to the buck. The big push is not because the U.S. dollar is held in the highest regard but because it is losing its luster on the world stage. After all, the debt debacle facing America is worse than what the Greeks are facing according to a new report from U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions. (Click here to see for yourself.) Senator Sessions says every man, woman and child in the country is saddled with $44,000 in debt.

The difference is the U.S. can print money, Greece cannot, and that is the problem for the rest of the world. Every dollar that is created devalues the other dollars in existence. America spends 43 cents more than it takes in every year. There is a current $15 trillion national debt and future commitments that some economists say exceeds $200 trillion. Last August, Congress raised the debt ceiling $2.1 trillion to $16.4 trillion. That money is likely to run out before the November 2012 election, and then, Congress will need to raise it again or the U.S. will face default. My money is on yet another debt ceiling increase. Is there any wonder why the world wants to move away from the dollar? The more you have of something, the less it is worth.

Now, even some U.S. states want to do business in something other than dollars. Wyoming is the latest to consider what some are calling the “Doomsday bill.” A local news organization called Trib.com reported last week, “State representatives on Friday advanced legislation to launch a study into what Wyoming should do in the event of a complete economic or political collapse in the United States. . . . The task force would look at the feasibility of Wyoming issuing its own alternative currency, if needed. . . . “I don’t think there’s anyone in this room today what would come up here and say that this country is in good shape, that the world is stable and in good shape — because that is clearly not the case,” state Rep. Lorraine Quarberg, R-Thermopolis, said. “To put your head in the sand and think that nothing bad’s going to happen, and that we have no obligation to the citizens of the state of Wyoming to at least have the discussion, is not healthy.” (Click here for the complete Trib.com story.)

Wyoming is just one of more than a dozen states that are exploring or passing legislation to have an alternative to the dollar just in case of some sort of calamity. CNN reported earlier this month, “A growing number of states are seeking shiny new currencies made of silver and gold. Worried that the Federal Reserve and the U.S. dollar are on the brink of collapse, lawmakers from 13 states, including Minnesota, Tennessee, Iowa, South Carolina and Georgia, are seeking approval from their state governments to either issue their own alternative currency or explore it as an option. Just three years ago, only three states had similar proposals in place. “In the event of hyperinflation, depression, or other economic calamity related to the breakdown of the Federal Reserve System … the State’s governmental finances and private economy will be thrown into chaos,” said North Carolina Republican Representative Glen Bradley in a currency bill he introduced last year. Unlike individual communities, which are allowed to create their own currency — as long as it is easily distinguishable from U.S. dollars — the Constitution bans states from printing their own paper money or issuing their own currency. But it allows the states to make “gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts.” (Click here for the complete CNN story.)

Gold and silver coins could be exchanged for their bullion value. That means, even though a one ounce U.S. Gold Eagle is stamped $50, it would be valued at its weight on the spot market. As I write this, gold is trading for more than $1,785 per ounce. Same would go for Silver Eagles and other forms of U.S. minted gold and silver. They would be exempt from state taxes, but federal taxes would still apply as it stands now. Some legislation, as in South Carolina, would allow any kind of gold or silver coin to be used. That would include coins such as Krugerrands from South Africa, Maple Leafs from Canada and many others.

This is all taking place under a backdrop of a sovereign debt crisis in Europe that could destabilize the U.S. banking system and runaway deficits and spending on wars, bailouts and Obama care. There is a reason we keep hearing stories about alternatives to the U.S. dollar, and it is signaling bad news ahead for the world’s reserve currency. The idea of an alternative to the buck is not coming from a few crazy people from the fringe. It’s coming from world and state governments that fear a currency crisis of epic proportions that is well on its way.

Agenda 21: Full Spectrum Domination

Daisy Luther
Inalienably Yours
February 29, 2012
http://daisyluther.blogspot.com/2012/02/what-is-agenda-21.html

The peace-loving tree huggers at the UN have devised a plan for the world. The friendly folks a the UN’s Department for Sustainable Development have a master plan for us all.

Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment.

So let’s see if we understand this correctly. A plan of action. Got it. To be taken globally…okay – everyone must participate. In every area in which human impacts on the environment….yep, that covers everyone and everything in the entire world. It’s a warm fuzzy way to take over the world! Group hug, anyone?

Agenda 21 is an action plan that was developed at a summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. You can read the entire plot HERE (http://habitat.igc.org/agenda21/) but the general idea is that the group of “leaders” intends to have a collective finger in every pie on the planet.

I. SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DIMENSIONS

The first section of the pact…ahem….plan, deals with the people of the world. Particularly, the DSD wants to “help” those in Third World countries live better….they should be told how to make more money by putting everyone to work in perfect accordance with the goals of the Agenda, how to maintain their health through vaccinations and modern medicine, how to govern themselves, how to control their populations and how to make decisions that will concur with the ideals of the Agenda.

II. CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES FOR DEVELOPMENT

This section includes protection of the atmosphere, land, mountains, ocean and fresh waters. So basically everything in the environment of a given country. This means that historical ways of using these resources could be outlawed, changing the basic ways of life for the indigenous people to make way for “progress” and “sustainability”. This gives control of all natural resources to the good folks of the DSD.

Section 2 (specifically Chapter 9, subsection #8) also uses the disproven science of global warming to further the controls placed on the acquisition and use of resources. This section of the articles of Agenda 21 confers vast taxation on resources, while allowing huge companies to use the green ideology to receive carbon credits, reallocating money from the power to the rich under a cloak of green hypocrisy.

….the United Nations is demanding $76 trillion from the first world over the next 40 years to encourage the development of “green” technologies in the third world. The defense of such a reckless agenda has rested on the unwarranted claim that the globe was hovering on the precipice of environmental devastation. “Green” ideology has become the bulwark of older agendas: The nations of the West must end their own prosperity, because that is only “fair” — and it necessary to save the world from Capitalist greed. from The New American

By specifically outlining the management of all natural resources, it disallows the use of them for any but the 1% in power, effectively keeping people from farming, fishing, mining or otherwise harvesting the innate supplies provided by their environments.

III. STRENGTHENING THE ROLE OF MAJOR GROUPS

The language in this section implies empowerment of women, children, unions, farmers, and indigenous peoples. However, if you dig deeper you’ll discover that all of this equality actually means the abolition of personal property, the demise of rural living, mandatory birth (population) control, and the “redevelopment” of cities. This is Communism 101. They intend to warehouse people in small areas for a multi-fold goal. It will make them easier to control, easier to poison and/or chemically sterilize through managed food and water supplies, and will leave remove personal ownership of natural resources. The slight-of-hand empowerment will actually take away the rights of families by disallowing ownership of personal property, curtailing their physical liberty by making all transportation public, and providing a pro-Agenda education/brainwashing for all.

IV. MEANS OF IMPLEMENTATION

This section describes how to get the whole world on board the happy train to Agenda 21-land. Redistribution of financial resources (i.e., taking it away from some and sharing it among others), technology (public transit, “equal” distribution of energy usage, monitoring of behaviours through big brother technologies) science and environmentalism (removing people from rural areas to “save” the natural resources from pollution and mismanagement), re-education (brainwashing with propaganda) and restructuring of local governments (installing puppet leaders).

Agenda 21: Not Just for 3rd World Countries

All of this peace and love isn’t just for developing countries. The principles of Agenda 21 are insinuating themselves into the lives of North Americans and Europeans at warp speed. With the decline of the American farm, people are being funnelled into the cities in search of work. With the decline of the economy, fewer people can afford private transportation and are therefore limited to the places that public transit will take them. Support of the local down-trodden is geared to further incite class warfare. Separation of families through child protection agencies, big brother parenting, and the dumbing down of our education system is planned to break down our society even further. Publicly funded health care will dictate toxic vaccinations, secretive sterilization, eugenics of the elderly and less-productive members of society, and mandated birth control.

AGENDA 21 IS FULL-SPECTRUM DOMINATION BY THE 1%. Nothing has been left out. It guarantees both birth control and death control. It promises the basic essentials of life in return for submission. It exchanges critical thinking for re-education and brainwashing. It destroys the epicenter of the family, society and culture, allowing only one way to live. It groups the population into small contained areas to be more easily controlled. It takes away from some to give to others who will be more easily managed by the promise of a full belly and a warm shelter.

It’s a parasitical representation of the 1%, feeding on the 99.

Agenda 21.
Divide.
Dumb down.
Conquer.

Wyoming Introduces ‘Doomsday Bill’ to Prepare for Collapse of Federal Government

http://www.gcnlive.com/wp/2012/02/27/wyoming-introduces-%E2%80%98doomsday-bill%E2%80%99-to-prepare-for-collapse-of-federal-government/

Lawmakers in Wyoming have introduced a bill that would compel the state to prepare for a complete collapse of the federal government, laying plans for an alternate currency, a standing army raised via a military draft, and an aircraft carrier.

“House Bill 85 passed on first reading by a voice vote. It would create a state-run government continuity task force, which would study and prepare Wyoming for potential catastrophes, from disruptions in food and energy supplies to a complete meltdown of the federal government,” reports the Wyoming Star Tribune.

Compared to the rest of the country, Wyoming’s public finances are in a relatively good condition, a fact that has spurred lawmakers to protect the state against contagion from other areas that could develop in the aftermath of a massive financial collapse.

The bill (PDF) lays the groundwork for how the state would respond in the event of a sudden devaluation of the dollar or “a situation in which the federal government has no effective power or authority over the people of the United States.”

“I don’t think there’s anyone in this room today what would come up here and say that this country is in good shape, that the world is stable and in good shape — because that is clearly not the case,” state Rep. Lorraine Quarberg, R-Thermopolis, said. “To put your head in the sand and think that nothing bad’s going to happen, and that we have no obligation to the citizens of the state of Wyoming to at least have the discussion, is not healthy.”

The bill has to pass two more House votes before it can be considered by the Senate. If passed, the task force would have until December 1, 2012 to submit a report to the governor detailing the continuity of government plan.

While authorities at both the state and federal level are making preparations for social dislocation, with FEMA recently ordering $1 billion dollars worth of dehydrated food, a total of 420 million meals, Americans who buy food supplies in bulk are being characterized as potential terrorists by the FBI.

Continuity of government plans implemented at the federal level are so sensitive that when the plan was last updated in 2007, Congressman Peter DeFazio was barred from seeing the details despite being a sitting member of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Peter DeFazio (D – OR) was asked by his constituents to see what was contained within the classified portion of the White House’s plan for operating the government after a catastrophic terrorist attack, but was denied access, leading him to comment, “Maybe the people who think there’s a conspiracy out there are right.”

Five years later, the biggest threat posed to America’s survival in its current form of government stems not from terrorists but from the country’s huge unsustainable national debt and the possibility of another economic collapse.

Recently, a USA Today article quoted three separate financial experts who all concur that the worst of the financial turmoil is yet to come, with trend forecaster Gerald Celente warning of an “economic 9/11″ that will provoke mass civil unrest fueled by anti-government sentiment.

Gas Prices Signal Tsunami of Inflation

USAWatchdog.com
Greg Hunter
Feb 27, 2012
http://usawatchdog.com/gas-prices-signal-tsunami-of-inflation/

A good friend of mine, who has family living abroad, called me this weekend. One of the first things out of his mouth was about his sister in London and how she was dealing with “terrible inflation.” No doubt he was talking about the spike in gasoline prices that have risen to more than $8 a gallon. (The official inflation rate in the UK is around 3.6%, but I’m sure the numbers over there are as reliable as the inflation numbers in the U.S. where fuel and food are not counted in the so-called “core” inflation.) Part of this price spike is due to Iran cutting off crude oil shipments to the EU recently, but part of it is the fact the UK has been engaging in quantitative easing (QE), or money printing, to help its ailing economy and insolvent banks. Just in the last few weeks, it announced another $50 billion in QE. The UK is not alone as most Western countries are engaging in QE to prop up an insolvent system bloated on bad debt.

“Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon.” This famous quote from Nobel Prize winner Milton Friedman really says it all about what is happening to fuel prices and inflation. The Federal Reserve is creating trillions of dollars in new currency to paper over the meltdown of 2008 and stave off a sovereign debt crisis in Europe. Oil is priced in dollars; so, of course, fuel prices are rising around the globe. An article on Zerohedge.com, last Friday, predicts oil hitting $200 a barrel in the next 5 years, but I think we will hit that mark much sooner. The post unabashedly said, “The sole reason why crude prices are surging . . . is because global liquidity has risen by $2 trillion in a few short months, on the most epic shadow liquidity tsunami launched in history in lieu of QE.” (Click here for the complete Zerohedge.com story.)

According to millionaire investor Jim Rogers, the Fed has already started its third round of QE. In an interview on Reuters, last week, Rogers said, “We already have QE3 … Get out the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet. You’ll see that they’ve been pumping up – you can see unadjusted M2 is going through the roof. Look at their balance sheet. … All sorts of assets are suddenly appearing on their balance sheet. Where did they come from? They didn’t come from the Tooth Fairy; they came because they’re in there buying in the market as fast as they can. There IS QE3 already. They don’t call it that but it’s there.” (Click here to hear Jim Rogers. This quote is at the very end of the clip.) Short term, Rogers likes the dollar, but he’s not a long term holder of the buck.

Adding to the money creation is the European sovereign debt crisis with Greece at the tip of the debt iceberg. The banks will be kept afloat at all costs instead of liquidated. According to Jim Willie of GoldenJackass.com, massive amounts of new money will need to be created out of thin air to keep the Western banking system solvent. In his most recent report, Mr. Willie said, “The zinger is the recapitalization of the banking system, an urgent need and requirement, the understood impact from the imposed Greek comprehensive solution. Expect more favored treatment to the banks. However, as they are put back on solvent feet, a process only possible with vast hyper monetary inflation directed specifically at the banking pillars, the retribution from within the system will possibly be the first serious price inflation leakover. For over three years, the monetary inflation leakover has been contained, to the detriment of the economy.” (Click here to read the complete post from GoldenJackass.com.) Nothing will signal a tsunami of inflation (caused by currency creation) faster than rising oil (and gold) prices. I think it is a lock that people around the planet will be paying much higher prices at the pump.

President Obama is saying the recent spikes in gasoline prices are not his fault and said, last week, there “are no quick fixes to this problem.” He is right about one thing, there are no quick fixes. The problem is not one of supply, but of too many dollars created to bail out Wall Street banks that should have gone into bankruptcy. Prices for regular gasoline in America are approaching $4 a gallon and, in some places, they are approaching $5 a gallon. According to a post on Forbes.com titled “Gasoline Prices Are Not Rising, the Dollar Is Falling,” relative to the price of gold, gasoline is cheap. The report said the average for the last 493 months has been “.0732” ounces of gold per barrel of oil. Right now, the ratio is about “.0602” ounces of gold per barrel. Are you getting this? Either gold prices have to go down or oil prices are headed higher to equal the nearly 500 month average. The report goes on to say, “At this point, we can be certain that, unless gold prices come down, gasoline prices are going to go up—by a lot. And, because the dollar is currently a floating, undefined, fiat currency, there is no inherent limit to how far the price of gold in dollars can rise, and therefore no ultimate ceiling on gasoline prices.” (Click her for the complete Forbes.com report.)

If there is war in the Middle East (as I expect), it will be like lighting a match in a room full of natural gas. Prices will explode for fuel and just about everything else, and talk of the so-called “recovery” will finally cease.

The Perfection Of Crony Capitalism: Use Regulation To Destroy Competitors

Zero Hedge

The Perfection Of Crony Capitalism: Use Regulation To Destroy Competitors

Crony capitalism uses its wealth to impose government regulations designed to hinder, cripple and destroy small business competitors.

In the U.S. we now have the perfection of cloaked crony capitalism: corporate cartels use their vast concentrations of capital and revenue to buy the political leverage needed to write regulations specifically designed to eliminate competition.

Recall that the most profitable business model is a monopoly or cartel protected from competition by the coercive Central State. Imposing complex regulations on small business competitors effectively cripples an entire class competitors, but does so in “stealth mode”–after all, more regulations are a “good thing” (especially to credulous Liberals) which “protect the public” (and every politico loves claiming his/her new raft of regulations will “protect the public.”)

This masks the key dynamic of crony capitalism: gaming the government is the most profitable business model. Where else can you “invest” a few hundred thousand dollars (to buy political “access” and lobbying) and “earn” a return in the millions of dollars, and eliminate potential competitors, too? No other “investment” even comes close.

The ever-expanding galaxy of regulations that business owners have to meet is a function of the corruption of government, i.e. corporations lobbying the government to pass laws and regulations (usually written by industry lobbyists to the specifications of their clients) specifically designed to eliminate competition by raising the costs of compliance amd imposing heavy fines via enforcement.

As an example, let’s take a slice of American mythology, the family farm, that is under increasing pressure from just this sort of Corporate-State crony capitalism. Consider the family-owned small to medium size farmer who understands that the farm is a nature-based system that requires certain practices to maintain the health of the farm and the quality of your produce/meat/milk.

Suddenly a number of corporate agribusiness farms (i.e. concentrated animal feeding operations–CAFO) spring up nearby where thousands of pigs/cows are crammed into huge barns and the operation is run like a factory, enabling the CAFO to produce meat or milk at a significantly cheaper cost or production.

What’s left out of the equation is the pollution to the environment and any associated health costs and damages to the values of the neighboring properties (Of course, these CAFOs are never sited near an affluent neighborhood).

In addition, the quality of the meat is suspect, as all the potential disease outbreaks that come with monoculture practices and crowded conditions can only be suppressed with constant, massive quantities of antibiotics. This is the perfect condition–animals packed together, plentiful manure, constant use of antibiotics–to create super-bugs that are resistant to antibiotics. Life being what it is, opportunistic and adaptive, eventually these resistant bacteria find a new and unprotected host, human beings.

A small family farm cannot duplicate these risk factors; only CAFOs can generate this kind of bacteriological danger to the populace.

These kinds of systemic costs created by the CAFOs are transferred to the taxpayer, including the local farmer who has to compete with the CAFO.

Since government in the U.S. is always for sale, and since the revolving door between the legislative and regulatory agencies and the lobbying industry is always spinning, it’s straightforward to hire “the right people” and “express your concerns” to the corrupt politicos.

Here are some examples of the crony-capitalist favors corporate lobbying and campaign contributions can buy:

1) The government may give massive direct subsidies to the CAFO, depending how effective the “farm” lobby is (most farm subsidies go to large agribusinesses and not to small farmers).

2) The government will pass regulations that apply to the farmer’s operations but require an entire new layer of compliance, reporting etc. that is beyond the financial capability of small operations.

3) The government may initiate enforcement actions against the farmer for non-compliance and if he’s not rich, he will get steamrolled by the government regulators because he can’t hire adequate legal representation.

4) The government often will not penalize the CAFO on the same relative basis, if it is part of a large corporation which have the resources to fight the government in the courts (i.e. the enforcement personnel don’t have the necessary resources to do long protracted battles with Panzer divisions of corporate lawyers);

5) When there’s an incident of blatant government over-reach or corporate favoritism that gets press coverage, the government agency will say they will “revamp the system” which is a code-phrase for passing even more regulations that secures them even more power.

In other cases, the regulatory agency was hampered from doing its job due to corruption/lobbying/political pressure from powerful corporate players.

As the regulatory thicket expands in complexity and scope, many of the regulations will not be adequately enforced because enforcement is now beyond the capability of the agency tasked with enforcement and monitoring. But the small/medium farmer will have to comply with them anyway, and if they don’t, then that leaves a door open for corporate-directed regulators to take them down later with heavy fines for non-compliance.

6) The government gets complaint tips from a CAFO about the independent farmer, so he’s subjected to a rigorous compliance inspection, whether or not the complaint is legitimate. It’s like the vehicle inspections you get if you’re caught “driving while black”– with enough effort, some violation somewhere can be trumped up into a fat fine.

7) The regulations become so complex that prosecutors are reluctant to bring then to court because they’re worried that a jury may not understand them. As a result, criminal cases are rarely brought against CAFOs and other corporate cartels.

After a few cycles of crony capitalism, competition has been destroyed, and you end up with something like America’s “sickcare” system: no matter where you go, there’s only two health insurance providers and their pricing is (surprise!) always about the same (it’s called price fixing; that’s the way cartels work).

Regulations don’t arise unbidden; they arise to accomplish two tasks:

1. Enforce crony capitalism by eliminating or crippling competitors and establishing highly profitable cartels or quasi-monopolies protected by a bought-and-paid-for Central State.

2. They justify the budgets and payrolls of government agencies at all levels of government. A few years ago I mentioned a town that was trying to add a commuter train stop to an existing rail line. The process involved something like nine agencies, and as a result it has yet to be approved, a decade later. But the application did create a decade of justification-for-our-budget for agencies that might have been revealed as wasteful friction without the make-work application to diddle over for a decade.

FEMA Puts Out Contract For Emergency Camps to House “Displaced Citizens”

Solicitation calls for camps to be ready for occupancy within 72 hours

http://www.prisonplanet.com/fema-puts-out-contract-for-emergency-camps-to-house-displaced-citizens.html

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is looking for contractors to construct temporary emergency camps inside the United States which can be ready for occupancy within a 72 hour time period and used to house emergency responders as well as “displaced citizens”.

The National Responder Support Camp contract, posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website, calls on contractors to “provide all necessary supervision, professional staff, labor support, material, supplies and equipment as necessary to make a RSC within a disaster-impacted area anywhere within the CONUS (Continental United States) within 72 hours after notification.”

The camps are primarily designed to house emergency responders, but will also be utilized to shelter “displaced citizens,” who will be “given the first opportunities for employment within the camp,” according to the solicitation. The camps will be able to service up to 2,000 people at one time.

As well as natural disasters, the 72-hour camps are designed to deal with terrorist attacks, National Response Framework activities of federal agencies, National Special Security Events, “or any other situation where FEMA or an agency working through FEMA needs a RSC.”

The camps will be secured with fencing and barricades that will also serve to create areas that are “off limits” to certain occupants. Entry to the camp will be controlled through a photo ID system for all occupants and visitors.

Medical treatment facilities, dining facilities, mobile showers and “morale welfare and recreation” facilities are all required as part of the contract.

FEMA’s latest efforts to satisfy the demand for emergency camps represents a continuation of preparations on behalf of the federal government to prepare for civil emergencies and potential social disorder.

Last December, Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano directed ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to prepare for a mass influx of immigrants into the United States, calling for the plan to deal with the “shelter” and “processing” of large numbers of people.

In 2006, Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown and Root was contracted by Homeland Security to build detention centers designed to deal with “an emergency influx of immigrants into the U.S,” or the rapid development of unspecified “new programs” that would require large numbers of people to be interned.

Last year we received a leaked memo from a state government employee detailing KBR’s efforts to hire subcontractors to provide services required for temporary “emergency environment” camps located in five regions of the United States, indicating that many of the camps have now been constructed and are ready for use.

The construction of new detention camps inside the United States has provoked fears that the facilities could also be used to intern American citizens in the aftermath of a national emergency.

Rex 84, short for Readiness Exercise 1984, was established under the pretext of a “mass exodus” of illegal aliens crossing the Mexican/US border, the same pretense used in the language of the KBR request for services.

During the Iran-Contra hearings in 1987, however, it was revealed that the program was a secretive “scenario and drill” developed by the federal government to suspend the Constitution, declare martial law, assign military commanders to take over state and local governments, and detain large numbers of American citizens determined by the government to be “national security threats.”

A provision within the National Defense Authorization Act, signed into law by President Obama on New Years Eve, hands the government power to have American citizens arrested and detained without trial.

Chose Wisely! Ron Paul Supporters Will Decide Who Gets Elected President In 2012

Are You Prepared to Vote For ‘More of the Same’ to Stop Obama?

Mac Slavo

http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/are-you-prepared-to-vote-for-more-of-the-same-to-stop-obama_02242012

We have not been alone in suggesting that the nomination of any Republican candidate other than Ron Paul would essentially amount to a second term for President Obama.

One of the key reasons for why Ron Paul has consistently won over 20% or more of Republican voters during the primaries is because he is considered to be unlike any other candidate out there – a rebel, a true maverick. For Paul supporters, the thought of having a President Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich is no different than having another four years of President Obama. These views are shared by millions of Americans who see no difference between the tax and spend initiatives, foreign policy, and liberty restricting legislation supported by republicans and democrats alike over the last three decades.

As such, these millions of Americans, many of whom were involved in the original grass roots Tea Party movement prior to its annexation by the broader Republican Party, refuse to be tricked again by a politician who talks a big game with promises of limited government, tax cuts, spending cuts, and a return to Constitutional values, but fails to deliver anything but more of the same once they are elected.

This presents quite a conundrum for Republican Party candidates and the prospect of removing President Obama from office come November. Ron Paul supporters, many of whom have adamantly refused to vote for anyone but Paul for President, have unequivocally and en masse put the establishment on notice: Either you join us and make Paul the nominee, or Obama wins in November because we’re staying home on election day.

In a recent Ulsterman Report interview, a long-time DC operative and Obama administration insider shares his insights on the matter. Among other things, Insider argues that Romney, Santorum and Gingrich are nothing like Obama, and that rather than focusing on destroying the credibility of republican primary candidates, the focus needs to shift, fully and completely, on removing President Obama from the White House.

I’ve read the comments by people sayin’ they are conservative. If Romney gets the nomination…or if Gingrich gets the nomination…or if Santorum gets the nomination…whoever gets the f-cking nomination – they are sayin’ they won’t vote for them because “they’re just like Obama.” Really? Is that right? BULLSH-T. There ain’t nobody “just like Obama” people. Believe me. You ain’t got a f-cking clue if that’s what you really think.

This country ain’t seen anybody reach the White House like Obama. Or more importantly – the people around Obama. The ones supporting and pushing Obama. Giving him the agenda, the words, the whole f-cking plan. So shut the hell up about not voting for the Republican because they are “just like Obama.” That kind of talk is comin’ from somebody who either is dumb as f-ck or is working for the campaign. The Obama campaign. And they are crawling all over your stupid Facebook thing. And leaving comments on your stories. I warned you about that. There’s gonna be more of it. A lot more. You hear somebody saying they won’t support the Republican because they are ”just like Obama” – you ignore that sh-t. It ain’t worth your time.

Any of these Republicans – ANY OF THEM, are a hell of an improvement over Barack Obama. If it’s Santorum, or Romney, or Gingrich, or Paul…you fall in line and you support that candidate and you vote Obama the f-ck out. That’s the goal. That’s your motivation. PERIOD. Because if you don’t do that…if you give this administration four more years…I’ve already said enough on that, right?

It’s never going back…the country…this version of America is finished and I got no real idea as to how different it’s gonna be. We won’t recognize it – I know that. I was talking to a fella last week about the Senate…plans to take the Senate. Republicans. As a stop-gap, right? You know what he told me? Looked me straight in the eye and said – “It won’t matter. He has pushed executive authority so far already…it won’t matter. Give him a couple more Supreme Court nominees…it won’t matter. If he gets the White House again…IT WON’T MATTER.”

Source: The Ulsterman Report: Read the complete interview

While reports have emerged over the last couple of days that Mitt Romney and Ron Paul may have formed a partnership against the other candidates, potentially setting up a Romney/Paul ticket for November, there are serious doubts that Obama can be beaten without the full backing of every conservative, republican and independent in the country.

It seems that Ron Paul’s often marginalized supporters will be the ones responsible for determining who the next President of the United States will be.

Primary results and the latest polling suggest that Paul will not be the republican nominee this year, which means either Romney, Santorum or Gingrich will be going head to head with Obama.

In that situation, at the eleventh hour, will Paul supporters remain steadfastly opposed to voting for another candidate, and by doing so handing the election to Obama? Or, will the prospect of four more years of a President who has lived up to at least one campaign promise – that he will fundamentally change America – be enough to drive them to the polls in support of any republican with a heartbeat?

The answer to this question will be the single determining factor in this year’s Presidential election.

Agenda 21 is a very difficult subject to pin down for average people who have no concept of how globalization works. This is because the program encompasses so many aspects of our social lives, our political environment, and our rights as individuals. Agenda 21 and "Sustainable Development" does not just affect property rights, but how we interact with our local and state governments, our health industry, our 2nd Amendment rights, even the kind of light bulbs we're allowed to buy, or our ability to control our own home thermostats! Ultimately, the policy initiatives that orbit Agenda 21 are NOT about saving the environment, but centralizing control over your daily life. Making your friends, family, and even local legislators aware of the dangers of allowing unaccountable UN sponsored commissions to write legislation that subverts the Constitution is a very high priority. Here is a video that may help you in that effort..

Artificial Resource Scarcity Alert!: The World Bank Wants To Be Our Water Nanny!

World Bank Wants Control Of The High Seas

Alt-Market

http://www.alt-market.com/articles/596-world-bank-wants-control-of-the-high-seas

As a proponent of legitimate free markets, I am always up for a little creative entrepreneurship. However, there is a considerable difference between building productive markets, and engaging in monopolistic piracy. Global conglomerates and the elites that operate them have long been familiar with the pirate’s life, and not the fun filled adventure-time rope swinging swashbuckling brand. In fact, it was elitists like Sir Francis Drake, commissioned by the English monarchy, who embodied this disturbing covert bedlam. We’re talking murder, mayhem, and blood-money, folks! So, it should be of no surprise to anyone that the thieving mercantile swine of our era are returning to the high seas to plunder once again, only in a much more subversive and devious manner.

This past week, World Bank President Robert Zoellick made his organization’s intentions for oceanic regimentation known, at least in a candy coated way, at the Economist World Oceans Summit in Singapore:

http://web.worldbank.org/WBSITE/EXTERNAL/NEWS/0,,contentMDK:23126775~pagePK:34370~piPK:34424~theSitePK:4607,00.html

Over the last several years, World Bank has seen fit to insinuate itself into the environmental movement as a “bastion” of green ideology. In reality, World Bank has long used the threats of environmental destabilization (some of them real, some of them fake) as tools for the centralization of resources into the hands of mega-corporations. In fact, if one was to attempt to sum up exactly what it is that World Bank actually does in a single phrase, it would probably be “resource domination”. This domination is achieved through the strict lending guidelines that sovereign countries have to commit to in order to attain financing from the supranational entity.

Like a greasy loan shark working for a hardboiled mob cartel, World Bank’s M.O. is to lend large capital packages (made with money or credit created out of thin air) which the target country and its government obviously cannot afford to pay back. These loans often stipulate that the country relinquish control of its natural resources, the true wealth of the nation, over to international corporate bodies for “management”. Through this process, World Bank removes competition from a market and hands designated companies (globalist front-companies) the keys to the kingdom.

Environmental manipulation has been used in the past by World Bank as a cover for resource piracy. Global corporations including Enron, Bechtel, GM, and Monsanto from the late 90’s onward have been handed coveted water rights to entire communities and nations under the guise of managing “water scarcity”. This control of the water supply has extended even to rainwater collection. World Bank’s argument in the case of water privatization was that monetizing the resource would create “incentives” for populations to conserve water. That is to say, the higher they could increase the cost of water, the more coveted it would become, and the more careful people would be when using it. This feudalistic idea was expressed clearly in a World Water Council (founded with the help of the Vice President of World Bank) document entitled “The Long Term Vision For Water, Life, And Environment”:

http://www.bvsde.paho.org/bvsaca/i/fulltext/mirh/education.pdf

In 1998 the World Water Forum expounded a need for control and regulation over the planet’s water supply. This meeting was packed with top multinational corporations and commissioned by a viper’s nest of global elites, including:

-Dr Ismali Serageldin (Commission Chair), Vice President, World Bank, and Chair of Global Water Partnership
-Margaret Catley-Carlson, President, Population Council
-Gordon Conway, President, The Rockefeller Foundation
-Mohamed T. El-Ashry, Chair and CEO of the Global Environment Facility
-Howard Hjort, former Deputy Director, FAO
-Enriquo Iglesias, President, Inter-American Development Bank
-Yolanda Kababadse, President, World Conservation Union
-Jessica Mathews, President, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, USA
-Robert S. McNamara, Co-Chair, Global Coalition for Africa
-Maurice Strong, Chair, Earth Council, member of Commission on Global Governance, and a chief adviser in charge of the UN reform process
-Wilfred Thalwitz, former Senior VP, World Bank
-Jerome Mondo, Chair of the Supervisory Board, Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux

In March of 2000, the forum made the following statement:

“Water is an economic good and its economic value should be recognized in the allocation of scarce water resources to competing uses. While this should not prevent people from meeting their basic needs for water services at affordable prices, the price for water must be set at a level that encourages conservation and wise use...”

http://www.waternunc.com/gb/secwwf11.htm

This methodology of artificially raising prices through the issuance of securities to enforce a particular environmentalist ideal, in the end, has NOTHING to do with protecting the environment. Essentially, it creates the derivitization of natural resources that is the calling card of globalized tyranny. Cap and Trade programs were designed to monetize air usage. Energy derivatives were used by Enron to allow easier manipulation of electric and oil prices. Water privatization was designed to corporatize a free flowing resource and create artificial scarcity. And now, World Bank wants to apply the same con game to one of the last economic commons; the ocean. The only beneficiaries in these schemes have always been large conglomerates, along with a smattering of stock investors who revel in the idea of erecting entire markets out of absolutely imaginary products with no real inherent value.

As with water privatization, the flood of massive bureaucracy in the guise of corporate management over oceanic usage will only create a mind boggling maze of red tape that will thwart all business interests except the largest. This is entirely deliberate.

Not only does it cause prices to rise to levels beyond what the impoverished (a global majority) can pay for a commodity, but it also squeezes out small business owners whose only advantage was the level playing field of an open resource. On the oceans of World Bank, a small fishing outfit will have no chance to make a living, because the permit process, new taxes, and new legal requirements, will empty their bank accounts before they ever get started, leaving only the big boys to ravage the seas at will, and legally, because they will have paid the exorbitant fees for the right to do so.

There is also a very good reason why Zoellick at the World Oceans Summit mentioned fishery issues so often, and why he is so keen on the idea of international regulations on their operations.

On dry land, companies like Monsanto are the slavemasters of food supply. The centralization of national farming infrastructures has given these companies unrivaled power over how we eat, and thus, how most of the populace survives. However, the ocean, an unparalleled food source, is still a decentralized region of production. Anyone can fish it, almost anywhere, without having to ask permission from the government, or a private company. This obviously does not sit well with World Bank, not because they fear overfishing, but because it provides a sovereign means of survival, allowing people to remain independent from the globalist system.

By utterly corporatizing resources that have through all of time been freely accessible to every human being, World Bank and the elitists they serve hope to build a framework for total centralization of all means of production and sustenance on Earth. Does this sound like mad scientist stuff? Absolutely. Does that make it any less factual or terrifying? Not a chance.

The real cleverness in using the environmental aspect of ocean management lay in the reality that there is, indeed, severe damage being done to many parts of the ocean’s ecosystems. Cap and trade is based on the lie of anthropomorphic global warming and highly misrepresented data on the effects of CO2 (just ask any global warming enthusiast why NASA and the CRU have never released the source data for their experiments to prove that their claims are true). The monetization of the air we breathe can be defeated in the minds of the general public for this reason. But with the oceans, legitimate pollution is occurring. This gives World Bank a much more tangible argument for supranational regulation in the name of environmentalism. What people must realize, though, is that this regulation will have no effect on the deterioration of the seas. In fact, it will likely hasten their destruction.

The international nature of how the oceans are utilized also opens the globalization door to World Bank. When a supranational entity is given de facto governance over a region that is used by all sovereign countries, it gives that entity the ability to interfere in the decision making processes of those nations without any input or respect to the people who live within them. For Americans, this means being susceptible to laws created by men far outside our borders who we cannot vote in, vote out, or chase down with our pitchforks when the voting is rigged. This has always been the goal of globalists; to create the most dominant and unaccountable ruling body in history, while at the same time convincing the masses that we cannot live without it.

At bottom, centralization is the foundation for the collectivist fallacy; that there is a “greater good” that must be maintained by the establishment. This process makes the establishment indispensable in the minds of the public. The elites in power today have chosen environmental dogma as their version of the “greater good”, because the “end of the world as we know” can be used to rationalize almost any brand of despotic behavior, from food and water rationing as a method for social conditioning, to population control or even depletion in the name of “saving the planet”. Always beware the true motivations of any governing institution that seeks to assert itself as the purveyor of all that is “best” for the people. Such groups are rarely if ever what they seem…

Buying The Vote: 12 Facts About Super PACs That Will Blow Your Mind

The American Dream
February 25, 2012
http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/buying-the-vote-12-facts-about-super-pacs-that-will-blow-your-mind

In American politics, it takes an enormous amount of money to win campaigns, and the rise of the “Super PACs” is allowing the wealthy to exert even more influence over the political process than they did before. When you examine the results of federal elections over the past several decades, you quickly discover that the candidate that raises the most money almost always wins. Wealthy individuals are limited by law as to how much money they can give directly to a political campaign, but there are no limits on how much money they can give to Super PACs. During the 2012 election season, some of these Super PACs actually have more money than the campaigns of the candidates that they support do. Buying the vote is not illegal in America, and these Super PACs are buying huge amounts of advertising in key states. Unfortunately, most Americans have never learned to think for themselves. Instead, they let the television do much of their thinking for them. If their trusted friend, the television, tells them to vote a certain way, then that is what they are likely to do. Super PACs are much more likely to run negative ads than the actual candidates are, and we have already seen very negative ads dramatically move the poll numbers in some of the states. Sadly, as long as very negative ads keep working people are going to keep using them.

Super PACs are supposed to be completely and totally “independent” of the campaigns that they support, but the reality is that many of these Super PACs are run and staffed by former top aides of the candidates.

Some of the candidates are relying on the Super PACs to be the “attack dogs” while they sit back and try to maintain a more “positive” image. If a Super PAC goes too far, a candidate can simply claim that he does not have any control over that Super PAC.

If money did not influence elections, then people would stop giving so much of it to the campaigns and to the Super PACs. The truth is that money does influence elections, and when wealthy individuals and big corporations are allowed to pour millions upon millions of dollars into these Super PACs it gives them a much, much larger say in the outcome of our elections than you and I have.

When Mitt Romney stated that he was “not concerned about the very poor“, he may have misspoke, but there was some truth to what he was saying. Mitt Romney and the other candidates don’t need the poor. What they need is to keep the flow of money coming from the rich so that they can buy the votes of the poor.

When you have a very high percentage of “sheeple” in a society, the hearts and minds of the people can be bought. Our horrific education system has dumbed-down the general population, and most Americans spend their days in an entertainment-induced haze. Critical thinking is in short supply in the United States today, and most Americans are more than happy to have someone else tell them what to think.

Politics has become a war of money, and Super PACs are “bazookas” in that war.

The following are 12 facts about Super PACs that will blow your mind….

#1 Sheldon Adelson and members of his family have already given more than $10 million to Winning Our Future – the Super PAC that is promoting Newt Gingrich.

$10 million dollars sounds like a lot of money, but a recent CNN article put these donations into perspective….

Recent estimates peg his net worth at around $20 billion. That means his $10 million donation was exactly one twentieth of one percent of his net worth. Yes, 0.05%.

That would be like a millionaire giving a $500 donation. Or a $50 gift for someone worth $100,000.

#2 Texas businessman Harold C. Simmons has given more than $14 million to Republican Super PACs during this election season.

#3 Overall, well over $50 million has been spent by Super PACs so far and we have not even gotten to the general election yet.

#4 The Red, White And Blue Fund, a Super PAC that supports Rick Santorum, has raised at least 2.8 million dollars so far.

#5 Winning Our Future (the Newt Gingrich Super PAC) has raised at least 13.1 million dollars so far.

#6 American Crossroads, a super PAC that boasts Karl Rove as a senior adviser, has raised at least 23.4 million dollars so far.

#7 Restore Our Future, a super PAC that was created by former aides of Mitt Romney, has raised at least 36.8 million dollars so far.

#8 In January, Mitt Romney’s campaign raised 6.54 million dollars. Restore Our Future raised even more than that - 6.62 million dollars.

#9 The four Republican presidential candidates raised a total of more than 21 million dollars in January. Their Super PACs raised a total of more than 22 million dollars.

#10 Donations from New York, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, California and Texas make up 2 out of every 3 dollarsraised by the Super PACs.

#11 During the race for the Republican nomination, 27 percent of all the ads run by the Republican candidates have been negative. Conversely, about 75 percent of all the ads run by the Super PACs have been negative.

#12 The Federal Election Commission is projecting that a total of 11 billion dollars will be spent on political campaigns during the 2012 election season.

Right now, Mitt Romney has raised far more money than the other Republican candidates have an his Super PAC has raised far more money than the other Republican Super PACs have.

It doesn’t really matter that he is just a slightly more experienced version of Barack Obama. He has the money, he has the support of the establishment, and the mainstream media is telling Americans that he is the person that the “red team” is supposed to vote for.

Yes, there is always the chance that Romney could fall apart and that the Republican establishment would be forced to find another option. Miracles do happen.

But remember, the candidate that raises the most money almost always wins. The following is from Politifact….

In congressional races in 2010, the candidate who spent the most won 85 percent of the House races and 83 percent of the Senate races, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. That’s a large percentage, but it’s lower than what the sign indicated.

Indeed, the percentage for 2010 was lower than it had been in recent election cycles. The center found that in 2008, the biggest spenders won 93 percent of House races and 86 percent of Senate races. In 2006, the top spenders won 94 percent of House races and 73 percent of Senate races. And in 2004, 98 percent of House seats went to candidates who spent the most, as did 88 percent of Senate seats.

If you think that most Americans are going to sit down and critically assess the political positions of these candidates before deciding who to vote for you are being delusional.

Most Americans do what the television tells them to do.

And the candidates with the most money are able to buy more influence on television.

What do you think our founding fathers would say if they could see us now?

Debt Doomsday May Come Sooner Than Expected

Politico
February 25, 2012

The federal government could hit the debt ceiling sooner than expected — and possibly around the November election — according to a report out Friday.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill had hoped that last summer’s deal to end the nasty fight over lifting the debt ceiling would ensure the issue wouldn’t resurface until at least 2013.

But the Bipartisan Policy Center said Friday that the debt-limit doomsday could come earlier than that.

Analysts from the Bipartisan Policy Center projected that the United States will hit its $16.4 trillion debt ceiling between late November 2012 and early January 2013 due to lower-than-expected corporate tax revenues and the recent extension of the payroll tax holiday.

The Banksters Spring Their Trap: How Fat And Gullible Baby Boomers Financed Their Own Impoverishment And Enslavement

In Europe and America ... No Retirement! Just Sufferin'

Daily Bell
February 25, 2012
http://thedailybell.com/3643/In-Europe-and-America-No-Retirement-Just-Sufferin

Europe’s Banker Talks Tough … Draghi Says Continent’s Social Model Is ‘Gone,’ Won’t Backtrack on Austerity … European Central Bank President Mario Draghi warned beleaguered euro-zone countries that there is no escape from tough austerity measuresand that the Continent’s traditional social contract is obsolete, as he waded into an increasingly divisive debate over how to tackle the region’s fiscal and economic troubles … In a wide-ranging interview with The Wall Street Journal at his downtown office here, Mr. Draghi reflected on how the region’s travails were pushing Europe toward a closer union. He said Europe’s vaunted social model—which places a premium on job security and generous safety nets—is “already gone,” citing high youth unemployment; in Spain, it tops 50%. He urged overhauls to boost job creation for young people. There are no quick fixes to Europe’s problems, he said, adding that expectations that cash-rich China will ride to the rescue were unrealistic. He argued instead that continuing economic shocks would force countries into structural changes in labor markets and other aspects of the economy, to return to long-term prosperity. – WSJ

The real owners, forget the politicians … you have no choice. You have owners. They OWN you. We know what they want … They want more for themselves and less for you … They’ll get it! The vanishing pension that disappears the moment you come to collect … The game is rigged! … And nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. – George Carlin (one of his last performances).

Dominant Social Theme:
We’ve just destroyed the fundaments of post-war Western society. Demolished them. Ho-hum. “Nobody notices. Nobody cares.” You shouldn’t, either.

Free-Market Analysis: This is historic stuff. The end of Dreamtime, folks. We keep hearing one of George Carlin’s last video clips playing over and over in our pointy heads like a bad rock ‘n roll song.

His soft, angry voice recites all the ways the good people of the American middle class are being screwed by the “club.” (Yes, it’s a club. “And YOU AIN’T IN IT.”) And then adds … Nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care.

Yesterday we noticed an AP article explaining the idea of retirement had gone a-glimmering for many Baby Boomers. You can see that article here: No Retirement: Misled Baby Boomers May Die at the Office.

Today the Wall Street Journal runs an article by Mario Draghi explaining that Europe’s vaunted system of socialism is over, finished, vanished, kaput.

Nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care.

It’s really incredible. The whole post-war period was nothing but an elite dominant social theme.

A story. A fable. A tall tale. A lie.

What was the point? Well … obviously it was to bring us here, to THIS point. Fifty years after the Modern Age was “invented” by John Maynard Keynes and David Rockefeller (chief architects of the post-war global economy), we’re apparently back to where we started.

Post-war Baby Boomers were the subjects of a kind of elite carpet-bombing. Remember the arguments that raged “across the pond”?

• The European cradle-to-grave socialism was either a sign of a mature civilization or its decline.

• The American model of investment capitalism was either a sign of a free-market confidence or cowboy capitalism.

Of course, the argument was bogus. The dialectic turns out to have been fake. Neither model was sustainable. Both were destined to fail. Take a step back. Look at the “big picture.” Try to adopt the intergenerational perspective of the great central banking families, the ones that control the BIS and the trillions that its minion-banks generate.

This one-world conspiracy is a patient one. Its modern incarnation started after the Civil War, perhaps at the beginning of the 20th century. Once central banking – monopoly fiat-money printing – became feasible worldwide the larger conspiracy could be activated.

And what was that? Well … the idea was to create a New World Order, one-world governance. Nation-states would have to be crushed. But the buy-in of Western middle classes was necessary.

And so, apparently, these paradigms were invented and cultivated. In the US, post-war citizens in the mid-20th century were subject to intense pressure to “invest.” The information was virtually overwhelming.

After a while, companies started cutting back on regular pensions and the 401K came into vogue. You were forced to “invest” in the most fragile of all facilities – the mutual fund. Regulated almost to death, clumsy as a medicated cow, these “safety first” vehicles were offered to a wary public as a way to ensure a livable retirement.

Europe dispensed with all that, however. The European tribes enjoyed the directness of government largesse without the securities industry intermediary. This was considered by many to be more “humane and logical.”

In fact, both solutions were the same. They emphasize the fierce, nurturing authoritarianism of the state. In Europe, the socialist state bestrode society like a colossus. In America, regulatory democracy was in vogue.

But in both places, the STATE was the driver. This had to be so. Mercantilism is the way the power elite controls society behind the scenes. No state, no power. The state had to be supported and expanded at all costs.

It was a most useful and clever strategy. Via taxes, employment and “investing” in banks and companies owned by the Anglosphere power elite, Western middle classes basically paid for their own enslavement.

Every few years, central bank monopoly-money printing collapsed the markets, and the middle classes let out a collective groan of agony. The great leaders of the West would meet and invoke the specter of ruinous collapse.

Eventually, thanks to the good, gray technocrats of central banking, the crisis would be averted. Hallelujah! Books would be written. “Leadership” would be extolled. Politicians would be enriched.

And so it went. Using their control of the central banking economy, Western elites have been building one-world government patiently for a century. They created the great “retirement” debate between Europeans and Americans to ensure that the West’s middle classes – their main opponents – would be too distracted by dialectic to notice the larger danger building in front of their noses.

And now the trap has been sprung. There is the phony “austerity” in Europe and the equally phony depression in the US. But none of it has to be. All of it is a result of “economic forces” that have been created out of whole cloth by the elites that have organized the current global economy. Here’s more from the honorable Draghi:

“You know there was a time when [economist] Rudi Dornbusch used to say that the Europeans are so rich they can afford to pay everybody for not working. That’s gone,” Mr. Draghi said. “There is no feasible trade-off” between economic overhauls and fiscal belt-tightening, Mr. Draghi said in the interview, his first since Greece sealed its second bailout …

Though Mr. Draghi welcomed the relative calm that has descended on European debt markets in recent months, he said credit remained scarce, especially in Europe’s struggling southern fringe. Despite Europe’s vast wealth, it has gone to the International Monetary Fund three times for aid—for Greece, Portugal and Ireland—and is going back again for additional assistance for Greece.

You see? Article by article, the veil is apparently going to be ripped away. Nothing’s working, not really. Welcome to a new elite dominant social theme. A half-century of debate, a Western civilization fully embroiled in the arcane (outrageous) “wonkery” of how government could provide for its people. Trillions of words, trillions of dollars, millions of smug academics, politicians and corporate executives extolling this, that or the other model.

And it was simply a promotion. An elite dominant social theme. A Dreamtime. See … they needed a “buy-in” while they gradually erected the New World Order – the UN, the IMF, the World Bank, the International Criminal Court,NATO, the World Health Organization and various trade associations. They didn’t want people making trouble, agitating against what they were building.

And now it’s built. There is a fully functioning world government, still young but learning to walk. Like a victorious vampire it will soon feed on the blood and agony of citizens around the world. That seems to be the plan.

Having built up phony prosperity via monopoly fiat, the great central banking families are apparently moving to the next phase. Out of prosperity shall emerge poverty. Out of the banking establishment shall emerge … implacablesovereign debt. Out of the Chinese “miracle” shall emerge the third and final regional insolvency.

Yes, as we’ve often pointed out, China’s economy shall likely be the last to tumble down. And after China … sooner or later … the deluge. Worldwide depression. (If it’s not already here.)

Watch, folks. Listen to the calls for global governance as all this unfolds! Listen to the chants for worldwide money! The only thing that will save the planet, we’ll soon find out, is an ever-greater political union. “We” are all in it “together.” It takes a village … a global one.

Those who object shall be silenced – either by ostracism or brute force. Those who have doubts shall be penalized, publicly or privately. Fear will encircle the globe like a single, gigantic chemtrail.

Economic collapse is part of it. The other part is war. In the Middle East, the powers-that-be have destabilized most of the regions’ sectarian governments. The Muslim Brotherhood and related false-flag Islamic elements are being prepped to take over.

War is in the offing. Military stand-offs at the very least. A clash of civilizations is being invoked. The battle against terror shall rage with ever more authoritarian consequences.

Western countries are being turned into authoritarian reservations. Cash is being outlawed. Soon, perhaps, you’ll need a passport (in the US anyway) to travel from state to state.

A two-part strategy. The same elements as in the Great Depression. Economic ruin and “war on terror” will create the conditions for the New World Order.

This is our hypothesis, based on the memes we discern and the dominant social themes now emerging. Of course, we’re not supposed to notice. We’re supposed to think that what’s going on is normal and natural.

Yes, the markets were supposed to take care of our investments but it didn’t work out that way. The state was supposed to send us money, but now the state’s bankrupt.

You see … Nobody to blame. Everybody tried hard. Everybody meant well. But now there are only layoffs, austerity, scorched earth. We ask … Where’s the anger, folks? Where are the REAL explanations, the summaries of what’s actually taking place?

Sure, Greece is yet in flames and other countries have seen protests. And there’re the (elite-controlled) Occupy Wall Street demos in the US. But most of the anger, even outrage, is aimed at the disintegration of the social compact. We don’t see a lot of commentary (hardly any) on the unraveling of the larger meme.

Won’t somebody comment on the sheer audacity of Western “leaders” that with corporate, religious and military connivance, led hundreds of millions down false paths. None of this is a “mistake.” Heck, didn’t these son-of-a-guns plan it? This is THEIR economy. Their central banks. Their fiat money.

We don’t seem this being mentioned for some reason, not in its fullest form anyway, not even on the alternative ‘Net media. The biggest fraud of all time is being pulled off in front of your noses. A global switcheroo. A deliberate, worldwide, intergenerational con game that is now entering its final stages. Doesn’t it upset you? Doesn’t it deserve more … exposure?

Conclusion: Nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care …

What Ron Paul’s Detractors Reveal

It is no secret that I am a huge Ron Paul fan–and I have been for many years. Do I agree with him on every single issue? Of course not. And I don’t have to agree with him on every single issue to know Ron Paul is the only true constitutionalist in the Presidential field–from either major party. And when a President (or any other public office holder) takes his or her oath of office, they do not swear to be a good conservative, or to be a good Christian, or to support the state of Israel, or to “create jobs,” etc., etc. They swear to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. That is their solemn oath before God and the American people. Nothing more. Nothing less. And for over two decades, Congressman Ron Paul has demonstrated his fidelity to that oath. And for that, I can and must support him.

In spite of Dr. Paul’s stellar congressional record, however, there are large numbers of Republicans and “conservatives” that are his fiercest critics. I’ve even heard some “conservatives” say that they would rather see Barack Obama reelected than for Ron Paul to become President. Such is the lunacy of many so-called “conservatives” today.

So, what is it about Ron Paul’s detractors that cause them to despise him so much? What is their beef? They would never say that they would rather Obama be reelected than to see Mitt Romney, or Newt Gingrich, or Rick Santorum elected President. In fact, most of them spout the antiquated mantra, “Anybody but the Democrat (whoever it happens to be at the time).” Or, “At least Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, etc., won’t take us over the cliff quite as fast as Obama.” But when discussing Ron Paul, many “conservatives” take the position, “Anybody but Ron Paul.” Why is this? What is it about this good man that so many good people can have such animosity toward him?

I am convinced that these “conservatives” who oppose Ron Paul reveal much more about themselves than they do about Dr. Paul. Let me proffer a few observations.

Observation Number One: We Have A Constitutionally Illiterate Society

Many “conservatives” are woefully ignorant of the US Constitution, and when a constitutional scholar such as Ron Paul interjects the Constitution into the political debate, he is speaking a language that many of these “conservatives” simply do not understand. He might as well be speaking Spanish or French. To many “conservatives,” the Constitution is a foreign language.

For the better part of the Twentieth Century, the Constitution was ignored and neglected. Pastors have never studied the Constitution. Businessmen have never studied it. High school teachers and college professors have never studied it. Policemen and sheriff deputies have never studied it. Even attorneys and judges haven’t studied the Constitution. Let’s be honest: we have a constitutionally illiterate society today. As a result of this constitutional ignorance, people (including Christians and “conservatives”) simply cannot fathom–much less appreciate–constitutional solutions to America’s political woes.

Dr. Paul knows the Constitution. He has studied it. He has read what America’s Founding Fathers and framers have written about the Constitution. He has studied the enlightenment philosophers, theologians, and teachers–you know, the same ones that Thomas Jefferson and James Madison studied. He knows that the reason America is in the mess it is in today is because the Constitution has been abandoned. And he also knows that the only way to fix it (politically) is to return to constitutional governance.

Therefore, when Dr. Paul talks about drugs, foreign policy, military adventurism, or even social issues, he does so from a constitutional point of reference. And the Constitution is clear when it comes to these matters. Domestic drug laws are the exclusive responsibility of the states–as is virtually every other law enforcement matter. Foreign entanglements, empire building, turning our military personnel into the world’s policemen, etc., are all anathema to constitutional government. And the longer our political leaders continue to ignore the Constitution, the more America will continue to slide down this slippery slope in which we now find ourselves.

Ron Paul’s position on these matters is in historical agreement with America’s Founding Fathers and the US Constitution. The following report outlines Dr. Paul’s sagacity regarding so-called “social conservatism” and the proper role of constitutional government (the title of the news report notwithstanding):

Dr. Paul’s detractors demonstrate that they do not truly understand the US Constitution.

Observation Number Two: Many “Conservatives” Have A Misguided Perception Of Ron Paul’s Position On The State Of Israel.

How many times have we heard Dr. Paul’s critics say that Ron Paul is “against Israel”? Too many times to count. I have been with Ron Paul in public and private many times, and I have never heard the first anti-Semitic word come out of his mouth.

Theologically speaking, you could not get a consensus of opinion from among the leading Biblical scholars and theologians regarding the modern state of Israel and Biblical prophecy if your life depended upon it. Many sincere Christians believe that the Biblical promises to Israel have all taken place in history past. Many sincere Christians believe that there are many promises to Israel that are yet future. And of these groups, many believe that the modern state of Israel is the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, while many others believe that the modern state of Israel has no relationship whatsoever to the future Davidic Kingdom. And the fact is, when it comes to America’s foreign policy, it doesn’t matter!

Constitutionally, the President of the United States owes his loyalty and allegiance to only one country: The United States of America. He has no right to interfere with the internal affairs of any country–including Israel. He has no authority to give trillions of dollars of hard-earned taxpayer dollars of foreign aid to any country–including Israel. When Americans go to the polls this November, they will elect the President of the United States, not the Prime Minister of Israel. As far as any American President is concerned, Israel, like every other nation, should be judged on the basis of its actions, good or bad (as should our own nation be judged). Any American President should do everything in his power to cultivate peaceful trade relations with foreign countries, and to protect America’s people and territory from those nations that would attempt to harm us–no matter who that nation is.

Ron Paul’s position on Israel is a constitutional one. He knows the US should stop meddling in her affairs and let her govern herself as she sees fit. Israel is a sovereign, independent nation fully capable of conducting her own affairs. What is amazing to me about so much of this Israel debate is the way many Christians ignore the fact that for every dollar the US gives to Israel, it gives at least four dollars to her Arab neighbors. Tell me again how this “blesses” Israel? How has America’s foreign policy of manipulation and coercion into the political and commercial affairs of nations throughout the world (including the Middle East) “blessed” Israel–or any other nation, for that matter? Can anyone remember when Iran was our friend? And who was it that cut the legs out from under that friend and elevated a government that would become hostile to both the United States and Israel? The US State Department, that’s who! Who orchestrated the rise to power of both Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein? The US State Department, CIA, etc., that’s who! Who has repeatedly demanded that Israel swap “land for peace”? Various US Presidents and Secretaries of State, that’s who! And what is currently stirring the pot of strife and hostility in the Middle East today? An interventionist US foreign policy, that’s what!

It is no accident that Ron Paul receives more support from American military personnel, active and retired, than all other GOP Presidential candidates combined. See this report:

http://tinyurl.com/7gk9c4o

No matter what one’s personal view of Biblical eschatology may be, the President of the United States is obligated to put the interests and safety of the people of the United States first! Period! How dare any President pander to ANY foreign country? How dare any President elevate ANY foreign nation to a position superior to the United States? And how dare any American citizen expect that our President would do either?

Observation Number Three: Ron Paul’s Detractors Must Not Comprehend The Existence Of The New World Order (NWO).

Ladies and gentlemen, ever since the Woodrow Wilson administration, the United States has been increasingly under the influence of internationalists who desire to commercially merge the nations of the world into one global community. The United Nations is a major contributor to this agenda, as are a number of international organizations. The New World Order is not a fantasy; it is a developing reality! And Presidential administrations from both major parties have willingly collaborated with this draconian agenda. In fact, under Presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, G.W. Bush, and now Barack Obama, globalization efforts have mushroomed exponentially.

The Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergers, etc., are major players in the creation of a NWO, as is the military-industrial complex, the Federal Reserve, and international banks on both sides of the Atlantic. Another major component of the establishment of a New World Order is the burgeoning surveillance society and police state that both major parties in Washington, D.C., seem determined to implement.

Ron Paul is the ONLY Presidential candidate from either major party that truly understands the New World Order and is determined to resist it. He’s the only one! Mark it down, neither Romney, Santorum, nor Gingrich will lift a finger to resist the power elite inside the New World Order. They will do nothing to reverse the surveillance society taking shape in America. They will do nothing to resist the federal government’s obsessive control-freaks who are running many federal bureaucracies. Either none of them understands it, or if they do, they are absolutely unwilling to lift a finger to resist it.

I can only conclude that Ron Paul’s detractors haven’t a clue about the New World Order. They must not see it. They must not understand it. They must not be able to identify it. They must be totally ignorant about it, or else they would clearly appreciate Dr. Paul’s knowledge and acumen when he seeks to warn people about it and put himself on the firing line to oppose it. Even if one disagrees with Dr. Paul regarding particular societal issues, one must admire Ron Paul’s stand against the New World Order–especially since he is the only one opposing it! It is obvious to me that the only people who cannot appreciate Dr. Paul’s courageous commitment against the NWO are those who totally do not understand it.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that everyone must agree with me and support Ron Paul for President. I know that good people can come to different conclusions in any political race. What I am saying is that it seems obvious to me that the vast majority of Dr. Paul’s vocal detractors seem to demonstrate misperceptions–or even downright ignorance–in at least one or more of the above realities.

Support him or not, vote for him or not, any honest American who understands constitutional government, who understands what a constitutional foreign policy should look like, and who understands and is concerned that America is in the throes of a burgeoning New World Order MUST at least appreciate and admire Congressman Ron Paul. And as for me, I SUPPORT, AND WILL VOTE FOR, RON PAUL!
